Plus Size Body Confidence

A glance at any magazine, TV or film tells us that when it comes to the accepted form of feminine beauty, it comes in a size 10 with long legs, pert breasts, flawless skin and shiny hair.

Sound familiar? Me neither.

Whilst we less than perfect women, struggling with our weight, spotty complexions and greasy hair try hard to measure up to the vision of loveliness peddled by the mass media, we lose sight of the fact that we can be just as happy and confident in our own skins, if only we’d allow ourselves to be.

Inspirational curves

For a little inspiration on the joys of body confidence let’s look to the fine example of Amani Terrell, a twenty six year old Californian who has been strutting her 260lb of gorgeousness down LA’s famous Hollywood Boulevard. Stripping down to a bikini in a place as neurotic and self-obsessed as Los Angeles takes a lot of courage, but that is exactly what Terrell did, with the sole purpose of highlighting the fact that no matter what size, feeling good about yourself is important. Being the all new poster girl for US women with ample curves, she makes a strong case for being proud and happy in a plus sized body shape.

As Amani Terrell shows us, feeling good about ourselves is all tied up with body confidence. When self-esteem is low, it shows on the outside. And if we happen to belong in the plus size category, staying positive about our body can sometimes be a bit of a struggle. It’s all very well saying’I am beautiful’ in the mirror each morning – but what if feeling it is difficult?

Body confidence tips

Maximize your plus sized potential and chase away self doubt forever by observing some of these tips:

Remember, our size does not define us. Who we are, is what’s inside – our personalities, with all their nuances, subtleties and fineries – we are amazing beings and our exterior dimensions have no bearing on who we really are.

Only mix with people who are supportive, those who make nasty comments to erode confidence are not worth bothering with. Remember that anyone who makes judgments about people for purely superficial reasons has more to worry about than you.

Sometimes feeling sexy is difficult when self-esteem is low. By making ourselves feel beautiful and sexy in the bedroom we can work on our confidence. Get a helping hand to boost sexiness levels with plus sized lingerie, whether it’s sheer black negligees or plus sized lingerie babydolls, the temperature in the bedroom will be certain to soar. Ask any man what trait they find attractive in a woman, and one of the most popular answers will be ‘confidence.’

Being a fashionista is not against the law for plus sized women. Revel in all the fashions and get to learn which colors and styles have a positive effect on mood. Learn to accept compliments and never talk about yourself in a negative way.

Finally, good posture can have an amazing effect on how a person projects him or herself. Shoulders back, head high and a big smile go a long way in the fight against poor body confidence.
