Reviewed – Prussian Blue Occasion Dress from Jacques Vert
If you say the name Jacques Vert to anyone, they will probably think of a great place to buy outfits for Weddings. ‘Mother-of-the-bride is often a phrase attached to the range of clothing stocked by this well established company. But while Jacques Vert certainly stocks apparel suitable for weddings, it would be unfair to dismiss it as just this, for there are some beautiful pieces that are suitable for so many other occasions.
Just before Christmas I was asked if I was interested in reviewing a dress from the Jacques Vert range. I decided to take a look around the site and was pleasantly surprised to see there were lots of dresses I would be more than happy to add to my wardrobe.
I loved both of the dresses featured above because they had a real glamorous feel. Semi-fitted styles with concealed zips, and Kate Middleton style lace detail, these dresses were very grown up. I also loved the length, just on the knee, and so sexy with a pencil skirt. these were dresses that could easily take you to any occasion over the festive period, and way beyond.
But these weren’t the dress I chose. I had a very special occasion over the Christmas holiday. My parents were celebrating 40 years of marriage with a family meal at a very swish restaurant. This called for a special dress, so I chose the Prussian Blue Occasion Dress a dress which just screamed ‘princess’ to me.
The first thing I have to say about this dress is that the photographs on the website do not do it justice. This dress is just so beautiful. The skirt is an a-line style, giving it the feel of something Grace Kelly would’ve worn in the 1950s, and the skirts have tulle style overlay that is just so delicate and elegant. The bodice has sheer tulle overlay with embroidery, so needs no necklace or adornment. Add a grosgrain ribbon style belt, and you have an utterly feminine dress perfect for any occasion.
I really loved wearing this dress, I just added some glittery shoes and kept other accessories minimal. The fit was good and it felt just right for a special occasion. I think this dress would make a great choice as a maid of honour’s dress for a winter wedding – simply add a white fur shrug and silver heels and this would be amazing. It could also be a lovely choice for a summer ball. The nature of the fabric would make this trans-seasonal, and hence, a versatile choice to add to your wardrobe.
With thanks to Jacques Vert and 7 things Media for the dress.
