Selfridges Birmingham enjoy Big Beauty Bang
Thursday night saw Selfridges Birmingham in party mood as it started a Summer celebration of all things British with the Big Beauty Bang. This was a night dedicated to all things pampering as make-overs, champagne and goodie bags dominated the proceedings. The atmosphere was a little bit carnival (think hoola hooping Cabaret ladies), a little bit fairground (the most amazing grabbing machine…more later) and very, very British – Union Jack Pommery Champagne anyone?
Every beauty counter was offering free gifts with purchases, with key make-up artists also in attendance offering make-overs and beauty guidance. It was lovely to see Cesar Santos performing his cosmetic wizardry for Giorgio Armani, and I couldn’t resist spoiling myself with the brand new Eyes to kill shades. I also got some of my favourite Philosophy bath and shower cream in the Senorita Margherita flavour, and just loved the fact they had got it displayed in cocktail glasses.
As well as the aforementioned Cesar Santos, there were some other very special guests in attendance. I couldn’t believe it when I spotted Her Majesty the Queen looking resplendent in purple and had to take my place on what looked suspiciously like the Beckham’s throne. Along with the royal Queen, there was also the (Drag) Queen of shops strutting her stuff around the beauty department. Great fun,
There was a fabulous atmosphere in the beauty hall, and on a very wet and windy night the department was packed with beauty fans snapping up the bargains, enjoying the cupcakes and the delicious champagne. As a final flourish, all customers spending more than £50 were allowed a turn on the very special fairground grabbing machine. This was full of full sized beauty and fragrance products. I squealed with delight when I was lucky enough to grab a bottle of Dior’s J’adore fragrance.
This was an amazing night, great fun and chocked full of beauty bargains and gifts. I loved looking at all the new products, and making a mental list of what I want for my summer beauty bag. Top of the list has to be the Illamasqua Pantone 109 nail duo which pays glorious tribute to the famous Selfridges colour scheme. These are exclusive to Selfridges, and that yellow colour screams sunshine and summer and is a total beauty must buy.
If you missed the Big Beauty Bang, never fear. The Big Beauty Bang will also showcase in Manchester and London later this month.
