Selfridges Summer Beauty

Every year, Selfridges Birmingham hosts a hot ticket Summer Beauty event. The year’s event took place on Thursday night, with a theme of Summer holidays and was, as always, simply fabulous. I popped along to the event to enjoy the treats, chat to the brand representatives, and meet up with some of Brum’s lovely bloggers.

To tie into the summer theme, there were summery treats on offer. Popcorn and candy floss on traditional carts attracted long queues, whilst the ‘Snow Cones’ – crushed ice, flavoured syrups and vodka, were both addictive and totally delicious. They certainly hit the spot for the Brummie beauty and fashion bloggers. I tried the strawberry, and they are definitely something I would like to try again – maybe Cranberry next time…

The beauty of these events at Selfridges, and what attracts the huge crowds, are the special offers, treatments, discounts and goody bags that are on offer at each department. From MAC to Illamasqua, ladies were getting new looks, trying different products and generally having a lot of fun at the same time. Blink were busy showing the beauty of eyebrow threading, whilst Biotherm were offering special treatments and lots of samples to help you try before you buy.

One of my favourite counters was Thierry Mugler. This was matching the perfume scent to your personality, with the choices as mysterious, seductive and controversial. I opted for controversial, but then preferred the seductive option of Angel(no surprise really since I used to wear this all the time). It was a fun activity, and I left with a little gift bag full of Thierry Mugler samples.

There were also competitions running throughout the store including the chance to win a Thierry Mugler bag, and a fabulous beauty hamper containing a huge range of products. You also had the opportunity to win a special Selfridges gift if you spent £70 on the night.

As ever, this was a fabulous night, giving lots of opportunity to try new products and discover new brands. Many thanks to the team at Selfridges, Bullring and SKV for the invitation.
