Shopping For The Perfect “Soccer Mom” Car

Football is the most popular participation sport in the UK – there are more than 3 million children that play every week. For parents, this often means that they spend time at weekends and after school driving around to football practices and matches. When you are shopping for a new car, it is worth considering how much time you spend driving and how much space you need for all the football gear. You can then choose the perfect model that is both sporty and stylish.

Optimum boot space

Never underestimate a child’s ability to get muddy at a football match. If there is a slide through the wet winter grass, then they will go for it. Once a match is finished, they will need to get changed and put their muddy clothes somewhere. Sitting on the edge of the open car boot is ideal, especially in the rain. That way they can change shoes and socks whilst sitting in the dry. You don’t need to go for a great big estate though. There are some really stylish small cars on the market like the Toyota Corolla and the Subaru Impreza that have great boot space. Additionally, hatchbacks are a popular small car choice in the UK because they offer plenty of interior space and are more chic than a massive “Dad tank.”

Efficient and reliable

On average, parents drive 1,648 miles a year taking their children to extracurricular activities, like football matches and practices. When you are shopping for a new car, make sure that it is efficient with good MPG. Although diesel might be cheaper, the government are accelerating scrappage schemes to try and encourage people to make the move to electric alternatives. Look for a vehicle that has low CO2 emissions and great fuel economy – that way it won’t cost the earth every time you have to fill up the tank.

In-car entertainment

A “soccer mom” car needs a little in-car entertainment. Make sure that it has great speakers for playing music and audiobooks on the way to matches. Built-in USB sockets is another great idea, so that you and the children can plug in tablets, phones, and portable games consoles whilst you are waiting for practise to begin. You can even look for in-car DVD players to watch your favourite football film while you drive.

If you spend a lot of time driving your children to sports matches, then a great “soccer mom” car makes perfect sense. That way, you can arrive in style to any football practise.
