Spring fashion Ideas

With the Spring Equinox in the Northern hemisphere occurring on Monday (10.28 to be exact), we are now officially in Springtime. Not that you would notice it if you ventured outside over the last few days, we’ve had biting winds, horrible amounts of rain, and we might just be in for some more ‘thunder snow.’ Clearly Spring is here according to the date, but not according to the weather.

But that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t start to look at introducing some Spring into your wardrobe. The shops are just full of lovely pieces to buy now and maybe wear later, although you could also cling onto your tights and boots and wear them now too. I have focused on three key areas, Spring florals, Womens shoes – with an emphasis on flats, and statement skirts. These are the pieces I would invest in now.

Spring Florals

Following on from the dark and rich winter florals, which had a folkloric feel, Spring florals have a mixed feel, with botanical prints featuring alongside more whimsical water colour varieties. Tops, dresses and skirts are all print festooned, but if you want to keep your floral print to a minimum, check out the rather wonderful Next boots featured below.

Pretty Flat Shoes

One of the best things about Spring comes when you can put the boots away for a few months and dig out your pretty flat shoes. Brantano has some lovely flats this season, and I am so obsessed with the Coachella inspired Emilio Luca X espadrille style.

Statement Skirts

Chi Chi London is a definite destination if you are looking for a statement skirt. Skirts are having a bit of a moment, with the likes of Olivia Palermo and Alexa Chung showing how you can dress down even the most stunning of looks with the help of a leather, or denim jacket, a slouchy jumper or a pair of chunky, masculine boots. Of course you can also wear them with heels for a more feminine look.
