Superdrug S/S press day – A feast of amazing beauty bargains

I was lucky enough to be invited to the recent Superdrug press day. This was held in the beautiful Haymarket Hotel in the heart of London on what turned out to be a glorious early Spring day (even though it was still February, I think 17 degrees constitutes Spring!). This was a fantastic event that was dedicated to showcasing all that is new in cosmetics, skincare and tanning products at Superdrug this summer, and frankly showed that looking amazing shouldn’t mean taking out a bank loan!

Here are some of the highlights from the day

Luxury skincare brand Elemis will be launching their range of products for younger skin in Superdrug stores on March 30th. This range, called Freshskin By Elemis is aimed at the under 25’s age group who need more than just basic cleansing. This range is at a much lower price point than the mature range of Elemis deep skincare, ranging from £8 for cleansing wipes, to £22 for the Sleep night-time moisturiser. With pretty pink packaging and a skincare heritage that speaks for itself, this range is sure to be popular when launched nationwide in June.

We are Faux are a new, fashion-led collection of false lashes that have been created by international make-up artist Ana Cruzalegui. As a lady who has NEVER worn false lashes, an invitation from Ana to put some on my eyes was too good to miss. I was really impressed by this range which give you thick, long Hollywood style lashes that also look amazingly natural.  For evening glamour with just a touch of glam rock to it, Ana has collaborated with electro band Ladytron to create lashes with studs and elements of sparkle. These will be fabulous come festival season and will be available in May.

The Solait sun protection range has been revamped and redeveloped for the summer season. I was surprised at how light the tanning lotions felt upon this skin, and how easily they rub in, being absorbed very quickly. They also received my approval due to the amount of spray lotions there are in the collection, particularly in terms of children’s skincare. As a mother, I appreciate that it is much easier to sprat a small child rather than trying to get them to sit still whilst you rub in lotions!

A fantastic bargain product that will definitely be in lots of toiletry bags this summer are the new range of dry shampoos. The Superdrug home range now comes in five different fragrances, and this will include a gorgeous tropical fragrance that launches next month. I just love this product for so many reasons,it doesn’t turn my hair grey, as many dry shampoos do. It smells gorgeous with really fresh scents. The bottle has a retro feel, almost Chelsea Girl styled from the 1970s. And it costs just £1.99 – what’s not to love?
