Father’s Day ideas from Mainline Menswear

With Father’s Day now less than a month away, I am going to be giving you some ideas for gifts for that very special man in your life. I find Father’s Day a much more difficult proposition than Mother’s Day, simply because my own dad is very difficult to buy for. He will never say what he would like, so you end up playing a guessing game and hoping for the best.

So I have decided to put some gift guides together based on specific themes, with the first one being inspired by my husband – the designer clothing lover. Pete is a different proposition entirely to my dad – he loves clothing and labels and there is always something that he has his eye on, usually from the vast collection at Mainline Menswear.  Mainline appeals to Pete because it stocks all his favourite brands, from Fred Perry to Lacoste, along with Hugo Boss, Levi’s and Ralph Lauren.

Mainline is a great destination when you are looking for a designer gift for your dad, or the father of your children.  The designer ranges encompass a whole range of designer labels that will suit every taste, and there are pieces that are more casual, as well as formal shirts. There are also good styles of footwear and trainers and a complete range of accessories, ensuring you can find a gift perfect for your dad and your wallet.

Mainline has the advantage of also being the perfect place to look if you happen to have forgotten (ahem!) Father’s Day, or maybe a birthday. It offers a premium next day delivery service that actually delivers when it says it will. I can vouch for this, I ordered Pete a top on Wednesday and it arrived via DPD on the Thursday afternoon, which is pretty impressive.

Nostalgia for Sweets with the Retro Sweet Company

If you are of a certain age, you may have a predilection for a certain kind of sweet. Drumstick lollipops, Refreshers, Cola Bottles, Parma Violets, Love Hearts, even those rather strange but still quite delicious Flying Saucers, the sweets of my youth were the ones you would have at the end of each day in the form of a 10p mix. You may have got these from a dedicated sweetshop, or, in my case, the local newsagents which had a really good selection, and they were most definitely something to look forward to at the end of the school day.

It is no surprise to me, that in these days when nostalgia is such big business, retro sweets are making a big comeback, and finding a new generation of fans. Retro Sweet, part of mysweetiejar.com, has taken all those childhood favourites, along with the sorts of sweet my grandad used to love – Pear Drops and Licquorice, and has created wonderful hampers, sweetie jars and sweet boxes that are perfect gifts for birthdays, Father’s Day or as a Thank you present for teachers at the end of the school year.

Gorgeous Great British Sweet Collection.

I was sent a wonderful Lolly May Nostalgic Great British Sweets hamper specially designed for dad’s containing all the favourites I mentioned above. Beautifully presented in a lovely hamper that would make a pretty storage idea after the sweets have gone, the sweets are a blast from the 1970s and 1980s, and are sure to please any dad – if they ever reach him of course! There are over 24 varieties of old fashioned and retro sweets in the hamper, which is literally overflowing with sugary gorgeousness.

With the sweets not being out of date until any time between January 2016 to October 2017, there is no need to rush the enjoyment – you could put these into little bags to make your own version of the much loved 10p mix.

The Lolly May nostalgic hamper for dad cost £34.99 and is a real sweet treat!

Truprint offer something a little different for choosy dads

Father’s day is now just a month away, and so this is the perfect time to think about what you are going to get for that very special person in your life. Although there are the usual choices of aftershave, personalised socks, a bottle of whisky or a block of Toblerone to turn to, wouldn’t it be nice this year to give your dad something really special, something that would raise a smile and give him something he would cherish forever? The answer must be yes!

Truprint are a company that have been around for a good many years and have always addressed all your photographic printing needs. These days you can find them online offering a whole range of services, from printing your digital images, to using those images on cups, mouse mats, coasters and keyrings. My key pick from Truprint this season is a photo canvas, specifically a collage design which I think you could produce on a specific theme that could make it the absolute perfect, personal, unique gift for your dad.

Here are a few ideas for a very special canvas.

1. A special family collage

My dad is all about family, so  a collage print where you can add specific images of children and grandchildren would be a lovely idea. I have added just a few images to this design, but you can add up to 15 images – more than enough for even the biggest family.

2. Dad through the ages

If you have access to a scanner, you could make a very funny collage featuring the style and fashion of your dad through the ages. Imagine those interesting 1970s and 80s hairdo’s and trends that style forgot immortalised on a canvas!

Not exactly like this but you get the idea!

3. How about a sporting theme.

My dad is a huge Football fan, loving West Bromwich Albion with such a passion that it is just infectious. A football themed canvas would be a gift that I know he would love.
