Fashion-Mommy loves…A review of June Style.
An exciting month for fashion, June bought festivals, tennis and even moire weddings. Kate Moss celebrated a big, fat gypsy hen-do, Pippa wowed with her high street style, and the gorgeous Adele captured even more magazine covers. Here are my highlights from a fashion-filled month. Kate, Duchess of Cornwall made her first official evening appearance at the Ark fundraiser and just wowed in a dusky pink Jenny Packham dress. This was one of many stylish appearances as Kate became a fully fledged royal superstar. So Glad and Very – White Stuff’s big sister shines this season!
I love ‘So Glad and Very’. For those unfamiliar with it, this is the sister collection to White Stuff. If White Stuff covers all areas of English style Eccentricity, from tomboyish jeans and plaids, to romantic ruffles and florals, then So Glad and Very addresses the areas of English Sophistication. I was recently sent the look book for the new season and was really impressed by the whole range, but also by the styling of the Look book. All hail the maxi – the dress for all seasons!
In December The Sun Newspaper reported that sales of floor length gowns had doubled this year. Selfridges had reported amazing sales of maxi’s, citing a Project D blue silk dress designed by Dannii Minogue that had been a complete sell out, whilst budget chain Peacocks reported that their best seller had been a £32 off the shoulder dress. The Sun put the success of the maxi dress down to the X Factor, believing that the looks sported by Cheryl, Danni and other contestants on the show had help raise the popularity of full length dresses.
