Put on your dancing shoes…it’s party season!

Recently the Next blogger network asked bloggers to choose their favourite pair of shoes from their rather vast, and totally fabulous collection. I browsed long and hard, weighing up the pros and cons of each pair of shoes, and changing my mind every few minutes, before deciding on the ultimate pair of party shoes for Fashion-Mommy. And so, ladies and gentlemen, I unveil my pick of the Next party shoes, the ivory bow back court shoes!

Ivory Bow Back Courts £35

So why did I choose these? Well firstly it would’ve been too easy to plump for black or Santa red options, and these ivory beauties have a distinctly snowy feel to them. Secondly, they are totally impractical, which makes them a slightly edgy choice for a decidedly unedgy Fashion-Mommy. Thirdly, I am a huge fan of Charlotte Olympia, and these have all those Charlotte Olympia special touches to them, like the beautiful bow on the back. In short, these are totally dreamy and utterly gorgeous.

And how would I wear it?

I’d team it with this beautiful mink jewel draped dress that has a Grecian feel and just enough embellishment to add seasonal sparkle. For the finishing touch, the nude sequin feather clutch adds that 1920s decadent feel. This bag is just crying out for a secreted hipflask.

So, that’s my outfit all sorted. Now all I need is my handsome prince and the perfect moment to wear it.

Coast have Party Dressing all sewn up.

I was lucky enough to be invited to the Push Pr press day last  week, which took place at the sumptuous W Hotel, near Leicester Square. Amongst all the fabulous Spring/Summer ranges on display, there were little pockets of glitter  and glamour that were yet to hit the rails this season. One such collection was the Coast Capsule party dress collection, a limited edition of five exquisite party dresses. This was launched online and in 10 selected stores nationwide  on Thursday, and promises to be a massive hit in the upcoming party season.

The collection covers all styles and trends, from ‘…draped to perfection column gowns, sleek, sophisticated sequins and irresistible cocktail dresses in light as air chiffons…’

There are long and short styles, sequined wrap dresses and strapless column dresses. The Elita maxi screams Hollywood, whilst Florissa dress comes in both a maxi and mini version. The Marissa dress is your perfect fail-safe LBD, whilst the Perla dress is your statement piece, with a fabulous wrapover style.

Miss Selfridge – Your one stop for Saturday night dresses.

I’ve just been looking through the new season look at Miss Selfridge and it is safe to say that if you need a super special dress for the weekend, you need to look no further. From glittering full  length showstoppers, to vintage inspired designs and new variations on a little black dress, there are some really stunning designs in this collection, which look more high-end than High Street.

Here are some of my hot picks from Miss Selfridge.

This dress is very Balmain inspired, like a longer version of the dress that was worn by Emma Watson. Imagine walking into a Christmas party wearing this! Beautiful, and so sexy with hardly any skin on display.

Marilyn Monroe caused quite a stir  in  the 1950s with a skin-tight lame halter neck dress. Miss Selfridge have updated it, softened the gold tone by adding pinkish undertones, and created this gorgeous floaty dress that is both sexy and pretty in one.

The 1960s is a big trend this Autumn/Winter, and this black dress is the sort hat Marianne Faithfull might have worn in 1965, whilst Alexa Chung wears her version in 2011. Add flat Mary-Janes for an innocent look.

Any fan of Markus Lupfer will love the design of this dress, it is a great version of one of his Spring/Summer looks that has been adapted for the new season. Very pretty and frothy – perfect for girlie girls.

Forties silhouettes and detailing are also a huge story. This black dress has adapted the puff shoulders and sheer dot design, but added a more modern skater skirt, making it a very cute look.
