The Royal Wedding – Meghan Makes A Beautiful Bride
It was the most wonderful of royal weddings. Everyone’s favourite Prince, Harry married Meghan Markle. The bride looked graceful and elegant in a gown from Clare Waight Keller and Givenchy. The groom was suitably handsome and didn’t leave a dry eye in the house with the looks he gave his bride to be, and the ceremony itself was warm and lovely, and full of touching moments that will long live in the memory. Welcome to the firm Ms Markle!
The dress
Meghan has supreme style and always looks amazing, but today she looked incredible in a dress that gave me thoughts of any Givenchy legend, Audrey Hepburn. It was beautiful in its simplicity, very plain, with a boat neck style and ice white colouring, leaving any adornment to the exquisite veil and tiara. I love Vogue’s description:
It was contemporary royal elegance epitomised in an haute couture gown: ceremony sans opulence, romance without the fuss.
Royal wedding dresses do have a protocol to follow, they usually have long sleeves and a demure romantic style. I think this dress is just perfect in that it is timeless, ageless and modern minimalist style that made Meghan look the very epitome of a modern royal bride.
The best dressed guests
The guest list had a Hollywood feel, with Idris Elba, James Cordan, George and Amal Clooney and Meghan’s colleagues from the cast of ‘Suits’ all in the congregation. Add to this the Royal family, and football and fashion royalty in the guise of David and Victoria Beckham, and you have a real fashion feast for the eyes.
My pick of the guests was the stunning Amal Clooney. She was wearing sunshine yellow, which stood out from the many darker outfits. I believe the outfit was Prada, and it was a stunning choice on a super sunny day. I also loved the outfit worn by Princess Beatrice, no lobster style hat this time, but a beautiful 1950s style gown that reminded me of Charles James designs.
Victoria Beckham looked stylish and elegant in one of her own designs – I loved the pop of colour that came from the coral shoe, whilst Priyanka Chopra from Suits looked stunning in the softest lilac suit.
One guest who was criticised for her outfit was Chloe Madeley. Her dress and hat looked lovely, but she was criticised for not covering her shoulders in the church. Pippa Middleton looked beautiful in a floral gown, but, hilariously, the dress was compared to a can of Arizona Green Tea (check out the can…there is a similarity, but the dress is still so pretty though).
All in all, I thought this was one of the most stylish royal weddings of all time.
