Wheelock Hall Farm Revisited

A few years ago we visited Wheelock Hall Farm, a lovely, family friendly farm, play area and farm shop in Sandbach. We had a lovely time and the review I published after this proved to be very popular (you can read it here.) Lat month, we made our first visit since 2021, and was surprised at how much the site had grown since the initial trip. With this in mind, I thought that I would give an update post, so here it is!

Wheelock Hall Farm is based in Sandbach, and consists of a farm, a farm shop, a lovely, now extended tea room/cafe, and a large play area that has both indoor and outdoor areas, making it a great place to visit, whatever the weather. The outdoor play area is a big attraction, as it is a large space with plenty to do. There is an assault course, lots of swings, slides, climbing frames and roundabouts that are perfect for energetic play and role play. All the apparatus are wooden structures, many designed as castles and forts for added adventure.

There are many other things to do. other than just climbing. There are go karts, as well as smaller swings and ride on tractors for the younger children. There are large bouncy cushions on the ground, and a ‘jail’ if you need to lock up a naughty adult. There is also a maze, for little adventurers, which proved to be very popular on the day we were there.

Feed the Animals

Once you’ve enjoyed all the outdoor activities have to offer, you can then take some time to look at, and feed the animals. Bags of food are available to purchase from the payment booth, and the animals are friendly, loving fuss and a little treat. There are lambs, very friendly goats, donkeys, and the ponies, all of which are happy to be stroked and petted.

Indoor Play

If the weather does take a turn for the worst, then the indoor play area is a godsend. It is huge, with space to play football, to climb and run, there is even a tractor to climb aboard. There are plenty of tables and chairs for parents to sit and watch their children play in safety in this area.

The Tearoom

I’m pretty sure the tea room has been extended since we last visited, but the fabulous quality of the food is the same as ever. I would highly recommend the hot beef sandwiches and the hand cut chips which they make from their homegrown potatoes and are just fantastic. The cakes are also to die for, and I love the fact that they offer children’s sandwich boxes which mean you can take the food with you if your little one is eager to reach the play area.

Wheelock Hall Farm Shop

You cannot visit Wheelock Hall Farm without visiting the brilliant farm shop. It stocks a combination of local food and produce, including some of the best ice cream you will taste. There is also a range of pom jewellery , handbags, scarves, and gift ideas which mean it is hard to leave the shop empty handed.

The play area is open every day from 9am – 6.30pm, including all bank holidays. No booking required

Prices: £11.99 for children aged 1 and over, £2.99 per adult
