With the school holidays just around the corner, those of us with children start to turn our thoughts to how we will fill those long weeks. It can become a very expensive time if you are not careful, so affordability is definitely something that becomes important. Wheelock Hall Farm is a place that ticks a lot of boxes when it comes to an affordable family day out.
Wheelock Farm is in Sandbach. It is a family run farm and business that incorporates a range of activities for families, a really lovely farm shop and an onsite tea room selling a gorgeous range of food and drinks, including some really impressive cakes. There are two adventure style playgrounds, one which also incorporates a go kart track and a small zip wire, a farm area with friendly goats and lots of pigs, a Maize Maze for a little exploring, and a new attraction for 2021, an indoor soft play area with a farmyard theme.
The great thing about Wheelock farm is the price, to use all of the facilities it is just £7.50 per child, with a £2 fee for accompanying adults. This is a real bargain, as there is so much to do, with both elements of the farm, and the soft play area being inside in case of rain. You can keep your ticket so you can leave to use the tea room, and then re-enter the play area, so you don’t have to pay twice.
The shop is a mixture of farm shop and small garden centre. It has plenty of great local produce including gorgeous ice cream and cakes, but also sells lovely gift ideas from brands such as Bomb Cosmetics, Equilibrium jewellery and the V&A (the Alice in Wonderland Collection is stunning.). There are also lovely ranges of toys and books as a treat for your little ones. Outside there is a stunning array of garden furniture, plants and flowers and hanging baskets, all reasonably priced. Be warned, there are also undeniably gorgeous rabbits who may try to tempt you into taking them home.
Wheelock Hall Farm is a lovely way to spend a Summer’s Day.
