X Factor Fash Off – Week 5 – Pretty, Pretty,Pretty

This week I had a shock, horror revelation during the vote off show as I realised that I had loved all the dresses on display over the weekend. From Tulisa covering up and looking great, to Nicole showing that you can reveal skin without looking tarty, I totally enjoyed all four of the looks we were treated to. No frock horror shows, nothing to edgy or experimental, just four great dresses.

Saturday night

On Saturday night Tulisa just sparkled in a beautiful dress from New York designer Jovani. The exquisite and strategically placed beading looked amazing under the studio lights, reminding me of the skin and beads dresses designed by Bob Mackie for Marlene Dietrich and Cher in the 1970s. Tulisa kept her accessories to a minimum, although I wasn’t so impressed with the mermaid style hair. What did impress me was that Tulisa had apparently hired the gown from Girl meets Dress for less than £50, and that you could hire the same dress too for a fantastic Christmas party look.

Nicole also looked fabulous on saturday night. I love that she opted for a leather outfit that was really classy, showing that leather can look elegant. Nicole’s outfit was actually a skirt and top designed by Ermanno Scervino, although it did have the appearance of a dress. The pencil length skirt keeps this looking grown up and glamorous, whilst the top may be strapless, but it is not too revealing.

Sunday night was another goodie. Tulisa looked perfect in a black and white structured lace dress that I first thought was by Phillip Armstrong. The magical creation was actually designed by Kruszynska Couture and this was a very angelic look for Tulisa, one which suited her perfectly. I loved that this dress was quite conservative in comparison to some of her other choices, but the black panel keys in perfectly to this seasons opulent brocade trends, making this possibly Tulisa’s best ever X Factor look.

Nicole opted for a slip of a dress that did have the look of beautiful vintage lingerie. I personally thought this was super soft and pretty, the lace detailing and neutral shade suiting Nicole perfectly, whilst her hair looked just stunning in a vintage style roll. I am also rather partial to those Guiseppe Zanotti shoes.
