Downton Bows out – Now steal the flapper look
The current series of Downton Abbey came to an end last night. This series had been set in the decade known as the roaring 20s and had allowed flapper fashions to light up our Sunday evenings. The looser styles, drop waisted cuts and a mixture of both deep shades and nude peaches and creams had shown that the style of the 1920s can fit all moods and occasions. Maybe that is why there are so many 1920s style dresses available this Christmas.
And whilst the fallacy is that this is a style only made for extremely boyish figures, the reality is somewhat different. I myself wore the beautiful Evans Gatsby dress during a press day late summer and was surprised how fabulous this looked, whilst the Asda George flapper dress is featured in the current edition of Essentials magazine, again worn by a curvy lady, and again to amazing effect. This style actually suits all, your figure merely changes the look of the dress, but not to the detriment.
There are so many beautiful 1920s style dresses around at the moment that this post could be twice the length, and may well get a sequel, but in the meantime, grab a cocktail and crank up the gramophone, and enjoy the best style offered by the Jazz Age.
