Style Icon of the month – Lana Del Rey
Maybe she is a recreation, with newly inflated lips and a retro image. Frankly I don’t care. She has the most amazing voice and in Video Games, one of the best songs and videos of the year. She also has truly incredible personal style. I am of course talking about Lana Del Rey, who is my style icon for the month of November. Lana has an old-fashioned film starlet feel. Huge eyes and the most talked about lips of the moment are teamed with Brigitte Bardot/Claudia Cardinale lustrous hair. And then there’s the clothes. Lana describes herself as a ‘gangsta Nancy Sinatra’ and could well be her best judge. Her…

Christmas decorations made for a Fashionista
I’ve just put my tree up..a little earlier than usual, but Joe was insistent and I as he has been a little under the weather, I thought this would be the perfect pick me up. But as I put my tree up, I was struck by how much the decorations reflect my personality. The tree, like the rest of my house, is filled with bags, shoes and dresses – a real fashion obsessives tree. These days stores are just filled with the sorts of tree decorations, advent calendars and gift wrap that are ideal for the fashionista in your life. These are perfect as mini stocking fillers or just gifts…

Bodhi…and now they do body moisturisers!
Anyone who is a regular visitor to the Fashion-Mommy site will know I am a huge fan of Bodhi botanical therapies. This is a wonderful range of bathtime therapies that have the most amazing scents that can leave you feeling revitalised, rejuvenated, or relaxed, depending on your choice of therapy. So when I was asked if I would like to trial some brand new body moisturisers,I was very excited. Loving the Bodhi scents, particularly Ylang Ylang Incensa, I was interested to see how they would translate into cream form, and how they would leave my skin, which is a little tired at the moment, feeling. I have been testing the…

The Gucci Dress everyone wants to wear.
This season there has been one dress that everyone has wanted to wear. From the fabulous Florence Welch, to Zoe Saldana, and by way of Evan Rachel Wood and Camilla Belle, this dress has graced a host of show-business parties, sometimes at exactly the same time. I am of course talking about the Gucci, Boardwalk Empire inspired flapper dress, with its striking Art Deco style gold and black colouring, and with its shimmering fringing that just evokes images of girls with Marcel Waved hair, Mary Jane shoes and bathtub and bottle parties. This is the sort of dress that made the 1920s roar, and I absolutely love it. The High…

Big Style Crush – Florence Welch
She’s a muse to Karl Lagerfeld, cites 1970s drag queen troop ‘The Cockettes‘ as a fashion influence and has described her style as ‘Lady of Shallot meets Ophelia.’ Is it any wonder that at the moment I am totally besotted by the wardrobe and pure style masterclass that is Florence Welch? The Titian haired Florence and the Machine songstress is an ethereal, alabaster beauty, a Lizzie Siddall for the 21st Century. And whilst promoting her latest album, ‘The Ceremonials‘ she has adopted a look that has taken in influence from my favourite Art Deco era. Her look is a covered up look, Isadora Duncan style scarves and sleeves, acres of…
