Trend focus – Coloured shoes
One of the easiest ways to get colour into your wardrobe is through accessories. Brightly coloured handbags and stylish scarfs are certainly one way to brighten up a simple outfit, but my favourite way to add colour to my wardrobe is through shoes. And it seems that this is a popular trend at present. A whole host of stylish celebrities have shown how a bright shoe can transform an outfit into somthing special. Molly Sim and Nikki Reed have used reddish tones to add interest to black trousers, whilst America Ferrara and Cobie Smulders have opted for bubblegum pinks to contrast against their evening attire. I particularly love America wearing…

A night of Beauty at Harvey Nichols
Last week, Harvey Nichols in Birmingham was the scene of an old school beauty event, with all manner of skin and cosmetic treatments on the timetable. Beauty School dropout had a lessons in cosmetics from Benefit, Skincare from Space NK, and combined this with a tuck shop, a dress up box, and a real lesson in art from the super talented Milly Jackson. It was quite a night! The beauty lessons were informative and interesting, with the team from Benefit giving lots of advice including the importance of wearing primer under your make-up, and great tips on how to apply liquid eyeliner. (One great idea was to practice with pencil…

Celebrity Get the Look featuring Emma Watson, Jessica Alba and Alison Williams
Today’s Get the Look is more about ideas to get a similar look, rather than finding the identical items wore by the stars. That said, we still have a few actual ‘get the looks’ from The One Show’s Alex Jones, a lady who always seems to spark early evening discussions about ‘where did she get that?’ on Twitter. Shall we make a start? Let’s begin the sartorial tour through a few sought after looks. Alex Jones wears Ted Baker and Wallis I have to say I’m a huge fan of Alex’s smart, but laid back style. Recently she wore this gorgeous, ruffle sleeved top from Ted Baker on The One…

Fabulous Mother’s Day Florals from Moonpig
On Tuesday I spent a lovely day in the gorgeous confines of the Montague Hotel in Bloomsbury. Enjoying a range of gorgeous sweet treats and Prosecco, I was a guest of the brand Moonpig.com as they showcased their latest floral offerings, just in time for Mother’s Day. Now I guess that I’m not the only person who believed that Moonpig.com was merely the home of personalised greetings cards. But to dismiss Moonpig as just a place to find a great card would be silly in the extreme. The brand is responsible for some of the loveliest floral bouquets and arrangements that you would ever wish to see. And showcasing these…

A Fashionable Day Out at the Races
The main event at the Aintree festival every year is the Grand National, which always takes place on the Saturday of the meeting. This year, The Crabbie’s Grand National will run on Saturday 5 April, and will attract more than 600 million viewers who will watch it live on TV. But for people who prefer to mix their horse racing with fashion, then Ladies’ Day on Friday 4 April is the day to actually go to Aintree, if you have the chance. In the same vein as Ladies’ Day at Ascot, this is a day for the female visitors to the course to show off their finest outfits, hairstyles and…
