A new website design?
I’ve recently been considering re-designing my website, it has been over five years since it last had an update, and I am very attached to the pink lady on my site. I do regularly clean up my sidebar and ads, but changing the design itself is more of a challenge and a worry. I use a custom wordpress design that I have always loved – it’s fresh, frothy and pretty and generally suits my blog and me. I’ve never really got around to buying a bespoke design for my site, although I can definitely see the benefits of changing to a cleaner, more sophisticated design (my good friend Emily Jayne…

Interiors focus – Vinyl flooring
There was a time when just the words vinyl flooring could bring people out in a cold sweat. Vinyl flooring meant Lino didn’t it, that sort of 1970s hell that you found in the tackiest of kitchens, patterned in every shade, just as long as it was brown. Sure it was practical and you could wipe it clean, but stylish, covetable, modern – it wasn’t really ticking any boxes. But now, things couldn’t be more different. Vinyl flooring, and vinyl floor tiles can still offer all the practicality of being wipe clean, making it a perfect option if you have a young family prone to spills and messes (although, thinking…

Sunny Afternoon – The Kinks Musical at the New Alex Theatre
The Summer of 1966 must have been the best time to be alive. London was swinging (apparently), England won the World Cup and it was all soundtracked by the stunning, iconic sounds of The Kinks, with Sunny Afternoon pouring out of radio’s everywhere. But, ‘Sunny Afternoon;, The Kinks musical written by frontman Ray Davies, shows that behind the brilliance of the songs, there was a band tortured by fame, mental illness and internal strife. This was all brought vividly to life in Birmingham, at the New Alex Theatre last night. Sunny Afternoon is the story of the early Kinks from Ray Davies side of the story. It shows the start…

Travel Focus – Wonderful Venice
With many traditional Summer holidays out of the way, and with most children now back at school, I thought I would look at some places that are perfect for an Autumn City break, a few days out of the rat race in places that are perfect for soaking up some culture, fine food and wonderful atmosphere. I am going to start by looking at Venice, which is, in my opinion, one of the most wonderful and unusual places on Earth. A city, that was once an independent City state, dissected by Canals, with no cars to be seen or heard, and possibly a city now sinking under it’s own weight,…

Simply Be Plise Ruffle Midi Dress Reviewed
I am a huge fan of Simply Be. They offer great quality clothing that comes in a really good range of sizes, with the sizing actually being true to size (one of my main bugbears of fashion is when a size large is a size 12!). I also love that the website is a one stop shop, you can get everything from holiday fashion to formal wear, you can find a dress for a wedding, a prom, for sightseeing, or to wear for work. The range is vast and varied and I would defy anyone to not find something they liked, whatever their taste. My current favourite is the Simply…
