With the school holiday’s safely over, now is a time to think about a couple’s break. There is nothing better for cementing or rekindling the sparks of romance than taking a break together where you escape from the norms of every day life and from the hustle and bustle of work.
There are many ways to enjoy a couple’s break, including a stay in a hotel, but if you really want to get away from it all, then a stay at a holiday cottage meant for two is the ultimate getaway. You can enjoy the home from home experience with all the mod cons you need for a comfortable break, but you can also enjoy breathtaking scenery, beautiful beaches and exquisite countryside.
Dorset is a brilliant destination for a romantic weekend break, with the seaside towns of Lyme Regis, Swanage and Weymouth offering the perfect break for those who love sandy toes and salty kisses, or Dorchester and Langton Herring giving the alternative of village living. Wyke Dorset Cottages offer town, village or coastal stays, and also have a range of different sorts of accommodation so you can choose something that really suits you. This includes the chocolate box style cottage, an ultra modern seaside apartment, or something that combines a bit of both, a character property with all mod cons.
My own favourite part of Dorset is Lyme Regis, somewhere I first fell in love with reading ‘The French Lieutenant’s Woman’ which was set in the town. It has beautiful soft sandy beaches where you may even find a fossil or two as it is a favourite haunt of palaeontologists. In Autumn it will be perfect for a romantic stroll as the sun sets. You can enjoy Oysters, the food of love at Hix Oyster and Fish House, which has stunning views across the harbour and the famous Jurassic coast. You can also enjoy a leisurely browse around a good range of independent shops that find a home in Lyme Regis, everything from a Fossil Shop to independent book shops and antique shops.
Dorset is a gorgeous place to stay, explore and to enjoy romance. If you haven’t been before now is the time to take a look.
