A Kate Middleton Week – Pt 1

What does an average week entail to you? Work, a few drinks at the weekend, a family meal. If you’re me this week it entails Jedward, Total Wipeout and pear cider, but this is my holiday time. If you’re the Duchess of Cambridge it entails Wimbledon, a wedding, a trip to Scotland, and more Wimbledon. And of course she does all of this in totally glamorous style, wearing a bit of McQueen, a touch of Emilia Wickstead, and some Beulah London. Here’s a look back at another stylish week for the Duchess.

A wedding

Kate attended a wedding last week in Bishops Lydeard (just a few miles away from where I am typing this right now), and wore a gorgeous 1970s style retro print dress from Beulah London. This is a ethically friendly label that Kate wore last year when she chose a stunning, long, red wrapover dress. This time around there was a more summery feel to the dress, although the weather was decidedly rainy.

This was a chic and elegant look for Kate, although it does remind me of the sort of dresses my nan wore when I was a little girl in the 1970s. Printed dresses are a great way to get the summer look even when the weather has chosen to ignore the season.

Wimbledon – Mark 1

Kate attended Wimbledon twice this week, with her first visit showcasing the McQueen cricket style dress that she had worn a year ago during her North American tour. This, of course, has a style that is reminiscent of a 1930s style tennis dress, so I’m sure some will criticise her literal use of clothing again, but this is a dress that does casual and elegance in one foul swoop snd so is perfect for a sporty occasion.

That’s the first half of my Middleton run through finished. Pop by tomorrow for part two which includes a trip to Scotland, and a trip to cheer on Andy Murray in the Wimbledon final.
