Wimbledon Special – best celeb looks and Wimbledon Whites

It’s Wimbledon fortnight, and that means a host of super stylish celebrity tennis fans have descended on SW19, for champagne, strawberries, and , with our surprisingly good weather, a little bit of tennis action too.

Fashion watchers are having a bit of a treat, with the likes of Pippa Middleton and Holly Willoughby showing off their very ladylike and elegant Wimbledon style. Pippa, in particular, was wearing a pair of Ash wedge sandals that are now available in summer sales and are sure to be another Pippa sell out.  Also on show has been Mollie King of the Saturdays, who showed that flower power is alive and well in the 21st century in a vibrant short suit from Oasis. I also liked the simple and elegant look sported by actress Gemma Chan, who showed why trench coats are a wardrobe staple that we all need in our lives.

A Kate Middleton Week – Pt 1

What does an average week entail to you? Work, a few drinks at the weekend, a family meal. If you’re me this week it entails Jedward, Total Wipeout and pear cider, but this is my holiday time. If you’re the Duchess of Cambridge it entails Wimbledon, a wedding, a trip to Scotland, and more Wimbledon. And of course she does all of this in totally glamorous style, wearing a bit of McQueen, a touch of Emilia Wickstead, and some Beulah London. Here’s a look back at another stylish week for the Duchess.

A wedding

Kate attended a wedding last week in Bishops Lydeard (just a few miles away from where I am typing this right now), and wore a gorgeous 1970s style retro print dress from Beulah London. This is a ethically friendly label that Kate wore last year when she chose a stunning, long, red wrapover dress. This time around there was a more summery feel to the dress, although the weather was decidedly rainy.

This was a chic and elegant look for Kate, although it does remind me of the sort of dresses my nan wore when I was a little girl in the 1970s. Printed dresses are a great way to get the summer look even when the weather has chosen to ignore the season.

Wimbledon – Mark 1

Kate attended Wimbledon twice this week, with her first visit showcasing the McQueen cricket style dress that she had worn a year ago during her North American tour. This, of course, has a style that is reminiscent of a 1930s style tennis dress, so I’m sure some will criticise her literal use of clothing again, but this is a dress that does casual and elegance in one foul swoop snd so is perfect for a sporty occasion.

Anyone for Tennis? Stylish Inspiration from House of Fraser

Wimbledon fortnight has started, and so for two weeks we all get really interested in tennis, albeit fairly briefly. There’s just something about SW19, with its perfect whites, strawberries and champers, Pimms, and the chance that you might spot a Middleton, that holds us all in thrall. And then, of course, there’s the fashion.

Because whether you are attending the tournament, playing on centre court or just watching in your living room, tennis is a seriously stylish sport. House of Fraser are currently taping into the trend with crisp blazers from Ralph Lauren, neat shorts from Warehouse and Ted Baker and perfect white loafers from Bertie. Add in some super sexy shades from Biba, an open weave Trilby that will protect you from both the sun and bad hair days, and accesorise with a colour pop crossbody bag in neon from the hottest British bag brand of the moment, Zatchels, and it will be game, set and match to you in the style stakes. (Don’t groan…I couldn’t resist that one!)
