The Royal Tour – My favourite looks from (N)Z to A
The Royal tour of New Zealand and Australia is now officially over, and by any standards, it has been an absolute triumph for Prince William, Duchess Kate and the gorgeous baby Prince George. Kate’s wardrobe, as ever, has been a joy for fashion lovers, with a definite emphasis on something old, something new, jewellery borrowed, and something blue. Before the tour, there had been lots of speculation about Kate’s wardrobe, with some saying The Queen had asked for more jewellery, more designer wear and longer skirts. I personally think Kate’s wardrobe proved to be a total triumph that stayed true to her fashion roots. There were splashes of High Street…

Friday Fashion – Duchess Kate and more looks from the New Zealand Tour
I have to say I am loving the range of looks that Kate Middleton has been wearing on the Royal Tour of New Zealand. Even though, yet again, she has been criticised for playing it safe, and even ‘looking like an air hostess’, I think Kate has been showcasing a great range of British fashion, wearing two of her favourite designers in Jenny Packham and Alexander McQueen. There have also been a nod to trend, with vibrant blue and midi lengths being part of the look. Alexander McQueen For a visit to the Blenheim War Memorial Kate wore an Alexander McQueen bespoke frock coat in the most gorgeous shade…

Cream is the colour for Prince George’s Christening
A future king was christened today, and whilst he looked adorable in antique styled lace, it was his ever-stylish mother who all eyes were turned too. And, as ever, she didn’t disappoint with her choice. The Duchess of Cambridge chose who else but Alexander McQueen for Prince George’s big day, showing that when it comes to the big occasions (her wedding, the Jubilee celebrations, only evening occasion in the United States tour) it is McQueen and Sarah Burton she turns to. Perfectly complementing George’s Victorian style Christening gown, Kate’s suit was ruffled and romantic, and looked exquisite when teamed with a beautiful pillbox hat with dotted netting. This was designed…

Harvey Nichols, Paula Reed and Autumn style
I was invited to a special event this week that had me super excited. Harvey Nichols fashion surpremo Paula Reed was heading to Birmingham! Specially invited guests were invited to hear her thoughts on the new season collections. As a huge fan of Paula and her impeccable style, this was one event that I could not miss. This was Paula Reed previously of Grazia and the lady who had commentated on the Royal Wedding. I needed to hear what Paula had to say. To add to the proceedings, Harvey Nichols head of menswear Darren Skey was also attending the event. This was going to be a seriously splendid fashion event!…

Red-hot edit from Selfridges
What is it about the colour red that makes it so special? Is it because red is the colour associated with passion and love, from Valentine’s hearts to red-hot lovers? Is it that fact that it is also the colour of naughtiness, of red devils, Bette Davis in Jezabel, and the deep red apple that tempted Snow White? Or maybe it is because of the connotations with Hollywood glamour, would those Ruby Red Slippers have been such a powerful symbol if they had remained silver, like they were in Frank L Baum’s original story? I think it is maybe a little bit of all of the above. Red is always…
