AX Paris Curve Lemon Chiffon Skirt – fruity gorgeousness
When you are a size 16+, you can find yourself limited in the shopping department. Although many stores now have ‘plus size’ ranges, these are often quite limited in scope and choice, to the point that I often find myself mouthing those immortal words ‘not another tunic…’
So I was quite excited last year when AX Paris launched ‘Curve’, a range that would stock fashionable items in sizes 16-26. Curve promised to offer so much more than just leggings and tunics in every shade of black, it promised beautiful maxi dresses perfect for evening occasions, brightly coloured tops and t-shirts that would fit rather than swamp a curvier frame. And it promised a range of colour for those of us who like to look on the bright side of life through our wardrobes.
When I was asked if I would like to review a piece from ‘Curve’, there was no hesitation about the piece I would choose. It was feminine, pretty and covered with lovely yellow lemons. Yes that did say lemons!
The Lemon Chiffon Drop Back Skirt from AX Paris is absolutely gorgeous. With an elasticised waistband that allows for extra puddings and bloated days, a wonderfully fluted asymmetrical hemline that flounces so prettily when you walk, and with that unusual and zesty print, this is a skirt for all occasions. Add in that it is currently in the sale for £9.99 and you have what could be the bargain of the month.
I wore the skirt for a trip to see a matinée show at The Old Rep in Birmingham. This is how I styled it;-
It was still a bitterly cold day, with some snow still on the ground, so boots were essential. I loved the idea of yellow and black, one of my favourite colour combinations, so I decided that the skirt should be the sole pop of colour in this outfit. A gap sleeveless jumper, thick belt from Peacocks and a charity shop blazer completed the look, which I think looked really nice, and was totally comfortable to wear too.
I always believe that each piece in your wardrobe should earn its keep, and this skirt will be really versatile, looking fab in summer with a simple white vest and flip-flops. I’m also planning to try it with a white shirt tied, Roman Holiday style.
All in all, a great addition to my wardrobe, a piece I just love wearing.

LOVE this skirt – quite a juxtaposition with the snow though lol:)

I know! And most of it had gone by then, hence the boots and not wellies again.

Love how you’ve toned down the yellow with lots of black.

Think I would only ever wear this with black or white.x

I really like that outfit. Love the way you kept the rest of it black and let the skirt do all the work. You look lovely!

Thank you so much. The skirt is just so comfortable to wear so I can imagine wearing it a lot.
