Baby Lollidot Angel Dress From Scarlett & Jo

Scarlett & Jo have long been a go to brand for me when I have a special occasion. Their dresses are all about flattering the figure, and are as floaty and feminine as you will find anywhere on the High Street. I love the fit and the way they make me feel, and the fact that they celebrate curves, rather than trying to hide or mask them. In short, Scarlett & Jo is a brand that loves women.

On Saturday I had a very special afternoon tea at The Belfry, the home of golf in The Midlands, and a stunning, upmarket venue. I chose to wear the Scarlett & Jo Baby Lollidot Angel Dress, a dress that skims, lifts and accentuates all that nature gave you. This dress is so beautiful, I love the way it looks on me, and it has received so many lovely comments, I know this is a dress I will wear over and over again.

So what is it about this dress that makes it so wearable? Well, first of all we need to talk about the fit. This dress offers so much support for the bust and the waistband, with a crossover bust detail and a higher, empire cut elasticated waist. This detail makes the dress fit securely on the bust and creates an hourglass shape, but contrasts nicely with the loose cut of the skirt which is more flowing and what I would call swirly. The pretty angel sleeves cover those problem areas of the upper arm that so many women, particularly older women hate, but the dress also has shoulder pads so the structure of the dress is kept neat and in place.

The cut of the bust is quite low, but if this was not to your taste you could easily add a brooch, a pin or a pretty lace edged camisole underneath. I wore this with boots as the weather was pretty shocking, but I will definitely be adding strappy sandals once the weather improves. This dress would also suit a blazer or a cropped cardigan to add a layer for colder days.but worn with a statement hat, it would be a perfect look for a wedding or special occasion.

The dress is midi length on me (I am 5ft 7in tall) but I think it would look lovely if it was longer in length if you are a little shorter in height. The fabric contains elastane, so it does stretch and that makes it feel really comfortable, and I love the small dot pattern that runs throughout the design.
