Boden’s 1960s Winter – Love!

This season, it seems like Boden is taking us on a journey to the 1960s, British style. I can’t help but look at the new collection and be transferred to the time of Marianne Faithfull, Georgy Girl, Jean Shrimpton and Julie Christie.  This is the 1960s of Kitchen Sink drama’s and gritty realism, tweeds and  shift dresses, a time when Mary Quant ruled and every button was huge!

Boden has taken a raft of those classic cuts, the simple shift dress, the collared tunic designed to be worn as a sexy mini, and those patent shoes with the just high enough heel to enable you to dance the night away. They have added warm, primary bright coloured coats with upturned collars and the one wardrobe essential from the 1960s that has remained a staple for every decade since, the polo neck jumper. They have also increased the decidedly British heritage feel by using tweed from Abraham Moon & Sons in Yorkshire, in  three heritage checks and a marvelous moss colour. Overall, a collection that looks totally classic, and yet ultimately modern.

Take your sixties style  inspiration from a couple of the decades icons, Julie Christie and Jean Shrimpton.
