Dick Whittington – Festive Family Fun at the Birmingham Hippodrome
The UK’s biggest and best panto opened last night, as the Birmingham Hippodrome launched Dick Whittington, this year’s festive offering. A star studded cast, including John Barrowman, The Krankies, Steve McFadden and Jodie Prenger dazzled and delighted the packed auditorium with all the best of panto tradition, presenting a dazzlingly camp and frothy spectacle that was, quite simply, hilarious. As with the best of panto, the story held little resemblance to the legend of Dick Whittington, thrice Lord Mayor of London. Instead, it pitted a very dashing Dick (and not matter how I write that, it still sounds naughty) against the villainous King Rat, both trying to control the…

Christmas Belle – Kim Wilde
This year’s entry in my annual Christmas Belle’s series is Kim Wilde. It seems this series, which looks at a female singer of a fab Christmas hit who also happens to be a bit of a style icon, is firmly entrenched in the 1980s, with previous entries including Kate Bush and Chrissie Hynde. Kim Wilde was one of the biggest, British female stars of the 1980s, with a career that stretched the whole decade. She was also a sex symbol and a bit of a style icon, with a style that stretched from sexy to tomboyish. Her entry in the Christmas hit parade came courtesy of a fun charity version…

Old age and fashion don’t have to be enemies anymore
When you are on the brighter side of 60 fashion should bow down to you instead of the other way round. You should be able to kick away your high heels, tummy tuckers and push-up bras and confidently pick something that lets you declare your style with dignity. Many of us feel the need of comfortable clothing while staying at home, but refuse to stray from society’s designated fashion standards. However, as per home health care in CT services, it is indeed irrelevant if you consider the healthcare hazards that your tight denims, push-up bras, and slimming underwear put you through. When you are above 60 it is time for…

Mrs Claus Style – Red Hot from M&S
As far as I am concerned, M&S have officially won Christmas. I love Buster the Boxer, but Janet McTeer, in her glamorous red outfit, totally owns the screen as the glamorous, elegant Mrs Claus, saving the day for Jake and showing his sister how much he loves her. Mrs Claus is cool, unflappable, not one for reindeers or chimneys, but possibly the only person in the world who could make eating a mince pie seem like a glamorous activity. She is, quite frankly, a new woman crush, because no one could refer to the glorious Janet as a mere girl. Mrs Claus shows that as well as being the most…

Christmas Jumpers at the Ready
[affilinet_performance_ad size=468×60] It used to be that most ridiculed item of clothing. Knitted by spinster aunts and grannies, gifted on Christmas Day. Worn for 10 minutes whilst cringing, and then hidden away, never to be spoken of again. We all remember that turkey buffet in the first Bridget Jones movie, when Mark Darcy’s hotness is slightly tempered by his choice of knitwear. Yes, I can only be talking about festive knits, but the Christmas jumper has come a long way since those bad old days. These days, everyone gets into the spirit of Christmas by donning a jumper, and you can even do your bit for charity by wearing one.…
