Disney on Ice presents World of Enchantment in Birmingham
The little girls had their best Elsa and Anna costumes on. The little boys couldn’t decide whether to buy a plastic sword or a cuddly version of Lightning McQueen, it could only mean one thing – Disney on Ice was back in Birmingham, at the city’s Barclaycard Arena. And, once again, it was a show that was high on Disney charm and magic with much-loved characters and crowd pleasing songs giving the audience a lovely night to remember. The show started with a set piece from Toy Story 3, as Andy is putting away his childish things before he embarks on a new adventure at college. The toys end up…

Parklives – Use that local park!
Is there anywhere more wonderful than a local park? Free to use and enjoy, parks offer us a place to walk, whether we have a dog who needs exercise, or if we just want to enjoy the fresh air. They are a place to kick a football, throw a frisbee or have a picnic. In Autumn you can enjoy the beauty of the falling leaves, in snowy Winter you can build a snowman or have a good old snowball fight. As I said at the start of this post, is there anywhere more wonderful than a local park? So you might be surprised to hear that new research, conducted as…

Foodie Review – Beefeater Longford House
It is a little embarrassing to say that there is a Beefeater restaurant, situated in a lovely 18th Century Public House, that is just a 10 minute drive from my house, and yet I had never tried it. But until yesterday, this was a true fact. The Longford House is a fabulous old building which has recently had extensive renovations to make it a bright and airy modern restaurant, and on Sunday we went along to sample some of the delights of the current menu. The Beefeater menu is extensive, with a good mixture of steaks, pasta, salads and grills. On Sunday, it also has the option of Roasts on…

Chocolate Laden Afternoon Tea at Cadbury World
What in the world could be better than afternoon tea? Afternoon tea featuring chocolate products from Cadbury World, that’s what. Last week I went to experience this absolute treat with the lovely Emily Jayne, and we were treated to an afternoon tea with a definite point of difference, the sites and tastes of the Cadbury World Experience. Cadbury World is a real family experience, one which combines the history of the Cadbury family and Bournville, the village they founded, with the chance to see a real working factory producing the chocolate it is famous for, and the opportunity to taste it in it’s liquid stage. Cadbury World is, in its…

Spending a weekend in Blackpool
Last weekend was a special one, as we spent Friday to Sunday in one of my favourite places, Blackpool. Blackpool is one of those places that you can visit happily all year around, but in all honesty, it really comes alive once September arrives, as this is when the illuminations are turned on, and the Lancashire seaside town becomes the Las Vegas of Northern England. This post is dedicated to some of the things you can do during a weekend in Blackpool, because, once again, we had a fabulous, family time there. The key to Blackpool is to stay somewhere central so that you can enjoy walking around the town.…
