An Afternoon Picnic at The Balcony, Selfridges
Ever since I attended the opening party of The Balcony restaurant in Selfridges, Birmingham, last December, I have been itching to try out the Afternoon Picnic. The restaurant, part of the Searcy’s group, had shown guests their take on a traditional afternoon tea, but due to consumer copious amounts of food and scrummy cocktails on the night, I had not been able to sample any of the delights on offer. This was something I knew I had to put right. So last Friday I took myself off the iconic Bullring Birmingham store with one of my favourite blogging ladies, the gorgeous Miss Emily Jayne, to sample the delights of an…

Thank you teacher from Guylian
With the end of the school year almost upon us, it is time to say a big thank you to the teachers that have looked after our little ones during their school day. For most of us, this means choosing a special gift on behalf of our child, but as they get a little older and more independent, children often want to choose and buy a present with their own money. With that in mind, the World’s foremost Belgian Chocolatiers, Guylian, (those of the gorgeous praline seashells) have launched a special campaign called ‘Thank you teacher’. Their chocolates are a perfect gift for showing your appreciation of a special teacher,…

Afternoon Tea at Essington’s Old School Tea Rooms
Traditional afternoon teas have made a huge comeback in recent years and you can now sample them in a host of settings, from hotels to restaurants and in the most modern of settings. But it is always wonderful to find a place which takes you back to a time when tea was served in a parlour, in a real china cup, and cakes came stacked up on beautiful stands. The Old School Tea Rooms in Essington do just that. Since it was launched earlier this year, The Parlour at The Old School Tea Rooms have been a resounding success, offering an Afternoon Tea which is great value (just £11 per…

Afternoon tea at The Laurent Perrier Champagne Lounge
Friday was a bit of a special day in my calendar, as I took my lovely mom to experience the new afternoon High Tea at the Laurent Perrier Champagne Bar at Marco Pierre White’s 25th floor restaurant in The Cube, Birmingham. As a lover of high tea (especially scones and cream) this had been the perfect invitation for me, and I was delighted to be given a chance to savor the flavours. We arrived a little early, so decided to make the most of the lovely sunshine and hot weather by enjoying a drink on the terrace. MPW has what is agreed are the best panoramic views of Birmingham, you…

#MorrisonsMums Bank Holiday challenge
The three bank holidays have to be my favourite part of Spring. Those extra family days and the chance to spend some quality time together (and have an extra lie-in!), all these treats are just part of the reason why Spring is fast becoming my favourite season. This Mayday bank holiday was given an extra fun twist when I was chosen to be a #MorrisonsMum, taking part in a special shopping and cooking challenge. Last Thursday (May 1st) Morrisons supermarket launched a new and cheaper Morrisons. Proclaiming that there would be no difference in the great quality choice and produce that customers expect from Morrisons, the supermarket had slashed the…
