Get the celebrity look with Alexa Chung, Lilah Parsons and Lydia Bright
It seems like an age since I have posted a celebrity looks piece, so I am now addressing the balance by featuring some of my favourite celebrity styles that you can find currently on the High Street, or online. First up we have that (now infamous) suede skirt that seemed to simultaneously kick start the current 1970s trend and offer the promise of saving M&S for another season when it was worn by Olivia Palermo and Alexa Chung. It is now available in store, but doesn’t come cheap at almost £200 (it is totally divine though, it has to be said.) But, with the price in mind, I am also…

Roger Taylor joins the Careless Memories launch
Following on from last week’s press and VIP launch, last night saw the official opening of Denis O’Regan’s Careless Memories exhibition of Duran Duran photographs. Taking place at Birmingham’s Malmaison, Duran Duran fans had traveled from far and wide to be a part of the special evening, and were rewarded with an appearance by Duran’s drummer Roger Taylor. It was a really great event. The stunning images that I had watched being hung last week were now providing a real visual spectacle in the reception and side rooms of Malmaison, taking viewers back to the golden heyday of one of Birmingham’s most famous bands. The champagne reception being hosted in…

Alexandra Burke is electrifying in The Bodyguard
An electrifying central performance by Alexandra Burke, and fabulous support from the whole ensemble had the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre audience on its feet last night, as The Bodyguard showed why it is one of the best of all modern musicals. From the opening number ‘Queen of the Night’, thrillingly staged with pyrotechnics, to the emotional finale of the classic ‘I will always love you’, this was a polished spectacle with Alexandra in full diva mode in a role she was born to play. The story is familiar to anyone who has seen the ultra-popular film which starred the late Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner. Rachel Marron is a musical superstar,…

Talking Careless Memories with Denis O’Regan
Denis O’Regan is a rock legend. The tour photographer on some of the key tours in music since the 1980s, this week Denis was in Birmingham to launch his new coffee table book, ‘Careless Memories’, which chronicles his time on the road with Duran Duran on their Sing Blue Silver tour in 1984. The book is also accompanied by a wonderful exhibition of his Duran Duran tour photographs at Birmingham’s Malmaison, which starts on April 23rd. I was lucky enough to have a chat with Denis at Malmaison, where we talked about the book, exhibition, and all things Duran Duran (and, as a Duranie, please allow me a swoon at…

Best looks from The Brits
The Brit Awards offers the cream of the British music industry the chance to get dressed up and generally let their hair down whilst enjoying the copious amounts of hospitality (ahem!) on offer. The latest ceremony has been totally overshadowed by Madonna, an Armani cape and a pretty spectacular fall, but on the fashion front it was a certain Miss Paloma Faith who took all the plaudits. Paloma was awarded a much deserved Best Female Singer award on the night, and wore three showstopping looks, including Armani Prive and Dolce and Gabbana. She looked every inch the star, even when performing in a rainstorm. I’ve been a fan of Paloma…
