Need help with those party outfits…NewLife is on hand

One of the nicest things about Christmas, from a fashionista point of view, are the host of shopping events and parties that help make Christmas shopping just that bit more bearable. One of the most innovative and exciting fashion parties taking place this festive season is also one of the most worthwhile, and will be taking place next Monday, in the giant, Cannock-based SuperStore, Newlife.

The retailer, which is the UK’s leading Children’s disability charity, will be holding its very first ‘Fashion Fix’ event with its very own resident fashionisto Darren Smith, who will be offering advice to customers on the best fashion choices for the party season.

Darren, who joined Newlife after working at some of the UK’s top fashion retailers, has a wealth of experience on how to dress your best when you’re dressing to impress, and will be on hand on Monday 10th December, from 2pm-8pm, to give one-on-one advice to shoppers who are hoping to dress their best for less during the festive season.

In addition to the invaluable advice, customers can also bag money-off vouchers just by popping in and consulting Darren.

He said: “Not everyone wants to be decked in diamante just because it’s Christmas and sometimes it seems that is all that is on offer in shops. At Newlife we want to change that and simplify the process of putting together the perfect outfit. There’s a wide selection of clothes, accessories and jewellery to suit any style and any age and it’s my aim to show shoppers what might work for them. Customers can’t lose – as anyone attending a Fashion Fix consultation will get a voucher to spend in store. It’s our aim to give you some simple bargain solutions that will give ladies and gents a fantastic Christmas.”

The event is in line with the new-look Newlife SuperStore which underwent a radical re-fit earlier this year and is now far more fashion and style led in its design and layout.

So, if you are finding yourself stuck in a style rut, want advice for dressing for a particular occasion, or just fancy a bit of guilt free shopping, get yourself down to NewLife on Monday.

Newlife launch a ‘Shirt Amnesty’ with Thomas Pink.

Disabled Children’s Charity Newlife has launched a fabulous new fundraising collaboration, this time with that fabulous  retailer Thomas Pink. The collaboration is taking the form of a ‘Shirt Amnesty’, and Fashion-Mommy, for one, thinks this a fabulous idea.

So what exactly is a ‘shirt Amnesty?’

It’s actually quite simple, and rather ingenious. If you take an old Thomas Pink shirt to a Thomas Pink store for recycling, you receive a same-day £5 reduction on any new shirt you purchase. If you return a shirt by any other brand, you will receive a £2 discount. This means you can clear space in your wardrobe, make a donation to charity, and get a new shirt at a reduced rate. What’s not to love.

The Shirt Amnesty is restricted to stand alone Thomas Pink stores, not in store or airport concessions. But there are plenty of stores all over the country to choose from, from the Birmingham Mailbox store to stores in Manchester, Bristol, Glasgow and Edinburgh. There are also 10 stores in London who are participating, including Jermyn Street and Canary Wharf.

Newlife CEO Sheila Brown said: “Thomas Pink is a valued supporter of the charity and we are delighted the company has chosen Newlife as its partner in this Shirt Amnesty. We are literally asking for the clothes off your back to help us provide a range of practical support services for families of disabled and terminally ill children nationwide”.

The Thomas Pink shirt amnesty will last until 29th February 2012.

It’s hat week at Newlife!

Children’s charity Newlife is launching a very special initiative starting from tomorrow.  Called ‘Hat Week’ . anyone buying  a hat could be in with a chance of winning a winter wardrobe of goodies at the Newlife SuperStore in Cannock.

Thanks to generous retail donors, Newlife has received a bumper batch of new hats and is now offering the opportunity for anyone buying a hat, next week, to be entered into a free draw to complete their winter wardrobe. This is fabulous for fashionista’s, for has the two Kate’s (the Duchess and Moss of course!) have shown, no winter wardrobe is complete without least one fabulous tifter.

The promotion will last for the whole week beginning on Monday 3rd October. One lucky hat-purchasing winner will be drawn at the end of the week, to receive a £100 voucher for SuperStore items from a range of coats, boots, shoes and accessories to add to their winter wardrobe.

The fun doesn’t end there. There is the opportunity to be a model and enter yourself in the ‘best hat wearer’ competitions on Facebook, where people can upload photos of themselves wearing hats in three categories: best female, best male and best child wearer. These will be judged and one person from each category will win a £25 Newlife voucher. To enter simply upload your picture onto the Newlife SuperStore Facebook page; log on to Facebook at and snap/share your photo on the wall.

I love this idea,  and think yet again Newlife are thinking outside the (hat)box when it comes to initiatives to raise money for charity. Newlife is the UK’s leading children’s disability charity specialising in support to aid children affected by all disabilities.  In addition to funding equipment grants and research, the charity also offers support services operated by specially trained nurses and campaigns for a fairer deal for children to obtain the essential equipment and services they deserve.  The charity needs over £100,000 a month to provide essential equipment, such as wheelchairs, beds, walking frames, seating, safety equipment and communication aids, to disabled children nationwide.

Newlife CEO, the fabulous Sheila Brown, says: “This is a great way to get a bargain hat and a chance to win clothes plus your purchase will help disabled children as the profits from the Newlife SuperStore sales go to Newlife Foundation for disabled children.”
