Drops of Youth 28 Day challenge with The Body Shop
“…Youth may be a mindset. but there comes a time…when unfortunately our skin doesn’t look as fresh and youthful as it used to, not quite reflecting how we feel inside…”
No matter how good your skin is, there comes a time when it needs a little bit more help to retain its youthful appearance and elasticity. The Body Shop is well aware of this fact, and has been searching for the perfect products that would help to project and rejuvenate ageing skin, and have produced a superb new range of skincare products called ‘Drops of Youth‘ which promise to do just that. Launched in January, this is a range of products that uses plant stem cells from the most resilient plants on Earth, those that survive and thrive in the harshest environments. If they are able to do that, and never age, instead regenerating themselves to create all the specific cells the plants need elsewhere, imagine what they could be doing for your skin?
I was given a full facial last week at The Body Shop store at Grand Central Station, Birmingham in order to find out a little about the products and to get an initial reaction to them. The range has six stunning products, the Youth Essense Lotion to prepare and activate, the Youth Concentrate which is a treat for the skin, the Youth Eye Concentrate, which targets those dark shadows under the eye and also works on the lids too, the Youth Cream which is a nourishing moisturiser, and the Youth Bouncy Sleeping mask which is great to be used as a weekly treat for deep nourishment. There is also the Wonderblur Youth Smoother which helps perfect those fine lines. It is a complete package, one which offers your skin all the protection and quenching it needs for the skin to look smooth, fresh faced and healthy.
The first thing I noticed about the new range was the premium packaging. The pretty green bottles and jars are reminiscent of vintage apothecary jars and will look fantastic on a bathroom shelf or dressing table.I always think of The Body Shop as no nonsense packaging, so this was a real departure and one of which I approve!
Before trying the products, my existing make- up has to be removed. This was done using an oil, something I hadn’t tried before but worked extremely well. I was then ready for my pampering session.
The thing I would say about all the products I used on my skin were just how soft they left it feeling. There was a definite glow to my skin and it was certainly refreshed. I had dark shadows under my eyes from nights spent in hospital with Joe the previous week, and the Youth Eye concentrate really helped that, the shadows were less apparent and my eyes felt soothed and cooled, especially as this can be used on the eyelids too – an area that is often neglected.
The Youth Concentrate soaked into my skin perfectly and didn’t leave any greasy residue as I have found with some serum type products. The Youth Cream is not too thick, something which often causes a problem with skin absorption, my skin just drank this in,
What I love about these products is that you can then place make-up over them without looking sticky or red. This makes them great to use day and night, as individual products or as part of a skincare routine. Following on from the session I was treated to a mini makeover and my skin was totally ready for this.
My initial reactions to the products are all good, but, as with most skincare regimes, you have to give it time to see if it really suits, and what the results are for your skin. With this in mind, I am taking part in a 28 day challenge where I will be trying the products every day to see how they work for me. Look out for the results post that will be on the site in mid march.
The Drops of Youth range starts at £14 and is available in store and online.

I went in for the launch of some of the products you saw there, they’re amazing. I still have the cleansing oil I got from August! Love it! xx I’m currently doing the Sleep Challenege with Holland and Barrett, love a good promo-challenge.

I haven’t tried these products, but I have never been disappointed with anything that the Body Shop do.

Is it sad that I want to buy these products just for the packaging? I do love Body Shop products though, they’re the only skincare brand that doesn’t make my skin feel greasy.
