Festive books from Little Tiger Press
I am in the opinion that every Christmas stocking should contain at least one book. Whether it belongs to an adult or a child, the gift of words is one to treasure, and the encouragement of reading through lovely stories with beautiful illustrations is definitely be something to be encouraged. Little Tiger Press have created a wonderful range of stories for young children (Key Stage One and younger) that would make lovely gifts this Christmas, or would be great in the build up to the big day.
Surprise by Jonathan Litton
This is such a gorgeous book for little hands to enjoy. ‘Surprise is a board book telling the story of a game of pass the parcel, with a central cut-out of a present becoming ever smaller as the parcel is passed around, and each layer removed. The rhyming words are lovely for those who love singing and rhymes, whilst the illustrations from Fhiona Galloway are cute and bright. This book is part of the ‘My little world’ series and is a great buy at £5.99 – toddlers will be enthralled with this book.
One Special Christmas by M Christina Butler.
This story, part of the Little Hedgehog Series, is all about what happens when Little Hedgehog has to take over from a poorly Santa, who is suffering from a Christmas Eve cold that leaves him unable to deliver the presents. But this is also a story about how sometimes, you need the help and friendship of other people too, as the job proves to be too much for Little Hedgehog alone.
This is a lovely story that was a real success with Joe. The age says 3-6 years as a recommendation, and emergent readers will be able to read much of this for themselves, with the lovely, bright illustrations by Tina McNaughton, teamed with touch and feel panels, will ensure that the book holds the interest and will be read and enjoyed over and over again.
