Fiction And Fairylights Opens In Hednesford
There is a new, and rather lovely trend emerging in many of the UK’s towns and cities, and that is the independent bookshop as a real community hub. Rather than merely being a place to buy books, bookshops are becoming a place to come and mingle, to drink coffee, eat delicious cake and chat with fellow book lovers. They host events, allow you to bring your dog and generally offer a respite from the busy outside world.
Fiction And Fairylights, which recently opened in Hednesford, is one of these bookshops, an absolute sanctuary for those who love to relax and read. It is owned by Kim Nash, herself the author of the feelgood fiction series of books centred around adventures in Cornwall, and it is just a lovely wonderful space. I took a trip last week to check it out for myself and can confirm it is just the ticket when you need time to just sit and read and let the world go by.
The shop itself is a wonderful bright and airy space that feels very welcoming. The bookshelves go around the edges the room, with the centre having chairs and tables so you can read the book you have chosen to buy, or even your own book, with a delicious drink and cake.
The books are an eclectic collection, with lots of beautiful hardback editions like the amazing Bridgerton editions shown below which are a must for any fan of the series. Jane Austen, is is once again having s moment in 2026, is also well represented when it comes to stunning editions.
There is a good and growing crime section, including books that would appeal to Agatha Christie fans, as well as new releases in both hardback and paperback editions. The children’s section is also rather lovely, and there are also sections dedicated to general fiction, self help and fantasy books.
As I have already mentioned, Fiction and Fairylights is not just for books, but for a break from the day with coffee and cake. There is an excellent selection of teas and coffees and some very delicious sweet treats (the latter cake was just amazing.) There truly is nothing better than a good book and a cuppa!
The shop also has a grea

t second hand book section thst is very reasonably priced. There are also lots of upcoming events planned including jewellery making workshops, author visits and an indie author showcase this weekend (2nd May).
