Great Days Out For Autumn
Summer may well be over (and it doesn’t seem like we will be getting an Indian Summer looking through the window today.) But even though the kids are now back at school, there are still lots of things we can be doing at the weekend to make the most of our downtime, just in case we face a Winter like last year, dominated by ‘beasts from the Easts.’
There are so many things you can do in order to enjoy family days out this Autumn, from making the most of the seaside, to enjoying special events for Halloween and Bonfire Night. Christmas is just around the corner which brings fabulous light switch ons and events in most towns and cities.
Here are some of my key picks for exciting ways to spend family time this Autumn.
Blackpool Illuminations
Blackpool is an all year round resort, but one that really comes alive in Autumn, when the Illuminations are lit and the whole of the golden mile glitters and shines.
Blackpool is unashambly traditional, with rock making, kiss me quick hats and three just piers filled with arcades, fairground rides and candy floss. The famous Blackpool Tower circus is well worth a visit, whilst the beautiful Winter Gardens is a delight, with plenty of good live shows coming up.
Barmouth
If Blackpool is too bustling and busy for you, then head to Wales to the traditional Victorian seaside resort of Barmouth.
Enjoy walks along the glorious beach – parts of which are dog friendly, then relax with coffee and delicious cake in one of the town’s many great cafes ( I would recommend Murrays). Check out the town’s independent shops including Lovit and Pieces For Places – a must visit for interior design lovers.
If you have little ones make sure they enjoy a donkey ride, and if the weather turns you can enjoy the soft play of Bendegerig.
Halloween Fun on the Severn Valley Railway
Would you dare to ride through spooky stations on a ghost train? The Severn Valley Railway is paying host to ghosts and things that go bump in the night this October, with face painting and a Halloween disco as part of the fun.
Wherever you decide to spend some time this Autumn, make sure you look for discount promo codes as you could save money on entrance fees and tickets for top attractions.
