Introducing High Street Outlet

This week, a lovely lady called Julie got in touch with my via the medium of Twitter (how did we ever live without it?) to see if I was interested in hearing a little more about her company and possibly reviewing some of the products they sell. The company is High Street Outlet, and a quick look around the website made me very interested in both the concept and the stock it sells. You know when you have one of those ‘How much?’ moments, but in a good way? Well High Street Outlet gives you those moments time and time again.

The reason for this is simple. How would you like to buy quality products from your favourite high street brands, but with as much as 70-80% off the recommended retail price? I’m guessing the answer is totally in the affirmative. Well that is what High Street Outlet offer. They buy surplus stock, both current and past season, from a range of retailers that include M&S, Topshop, Zara, Laura Ashley, Monsoon, White Stuff, Dorothy Perkins, The Jacques Vert group and many more, and then sell these on to the customer at a massive discount. The clothes are de-tagged, but the brands and ranges are instantly recognisable to anyone who shops the High Street or trawls websites regularly.

I was sent some lovely pieces to review from High Street Outlet and I have to say I think this may well be my new favourite destination to find affordable pieces. As someone who likes to wear what suits me, rather than just following fashion, and also as someone who loves a bargain, High Street Outlet answers all my needs.  For my first review piece I chose a day dress from a brand I have long admired – White Stuff.

The navy blue Flying High dress is a great day dress. In thick cotton, with a full lining, this dress is perfect as a day dress – it has no buttons of zips, you simply slip this on over your head. The dress has elastication that gives it an empire line shape, and it sits nicely on the knee. The print is a full of swallows – there is also a purple version that has a butterfly print.

This dress is a great transitional piece – add tights and a blazer or cardigan for a great Spring look, but in Summer the cotton will be a cool option and the dress would look great with espadrilles or sandals. It would pack neatly into a suitcase and would be great for sightseeing – the cool cotton would be both smart and practical. And (drumroll please…) it has pockets, which is the greatest thing any dress can have in my humble view, especially as I’m snuffling at the moment and really need a tissue at all times.
