Kate and Pippa show off their demure evening looks.
This week we have been treated to sightings of both Middleton sister’s wearing evening attire. And it seems that long-sleeved and demure are the buzzwords when it comes to the looks they have both chosen to adopt. Ladylike and glamorous would definitely apply to both dresses, heralding a new era of grown-up evening style.
Kate attended the 100 women in hedge funds black tie gala wearing a beautiful, vibrant red jersey dress with chiffon sleeves by London Label Beulah. The dress, named ‘Sarai’. was another astute choice by Kate, for the Beulah label was started by Lady Natasha Rufus Isaacs to provide work for victims of human trafficking in India. The dress proved that Kate is aware of the growing interest in ethical fashion, and is keen to support those taking a fashion stand.
I love this dress, which is very flattering. It is reminiscent of the Issa styles that Kate has sported previously, including the blue engagement dress. The dress also comes in a blue shade, which I feel better illustrates the sheer chiffon sleeves. This is very on trend, with its 1940s styling, and has an elegant look which seems to suit Kate.
This wrap style dress is a style classic, and is readily available on the high street and online. Reiss has a couple of cute, shorter versions, whilst Monsoon has channelled this look in a 1970s calf length.
Pippa seems to have become a fan of Project D, the label designed by Dannii Minogue and Tabitha Webb. She also attended a charity night this week wearing a beautiful, full length Oriental style evening gown. The gown was the opposite of the red Temperley dress that she wore to the Boodles ball. That dress was criticised for being too low-cut. The Project D dress had a high neckline and long sleeves, leaving everything to the attention.
The dress Pippa is wearing is the Elle Botanical Maxi dress, and is currently available at mywardrobe.com for £623. (click here to go to the site). Pippa looks beautiful in this dress, and I love her more elegant up do and dark eye make up.
I think 1940s style floral silk evening dresses will be a big story this Winter. Long and maxi length isn’ t for everyone, but there are lots of shorter evening dresses with bold patterns that would definitely make a style statement. Very has a range of shorter floral dress, including one by South, which is definitely on my most wanted list!
