Kate Moss for Kerastase – looking to the style icons of the past
In the year that we celebrate 25 years of Kate Moss the supermodel and style icon, it is only fitting that in her latest campaign, she is looking to the style icons of past years. In the beautiful black and white images that adorn the ad campaign for hair care brand Kerastase, Kate looks timelessly beautiful and glamorous, but also just a little like some famous ladies from Hollywood’s past.
Take a look and see if you agree.
Kate as …Catherine Deneuve
With her blonde locks teased and sprayed into a retro bouffant style reminiscent of the 1960s dolly birds, you can’t help but look at Kate and think of Catherine Deneuve in her glacial Belle De Jour era. Hair full of volume and lift – total glamour. Kate as Severine, can you see it too?
Kate as…Rita Hayworth and Veronica Lake
Onto the next image, a vampish Kate with 1940s style waves and a slinky black strapless dress. Again, a totally stunning image, but one you can’t look at without thinking of Rita Hayworth as Gilda, in a similar black dress and peekaboo hairstyle. And speaking of peekaboo hair, with those flowing blonde locks, the immortal Veronica Lake is also conjured up. Kate is known to be a fan of her style and look, so it’s no surprise she should channel it in a glamorous shoot.
Kate as…Lauren Hutton and Farrah Fawcett
In the third shot, Kate is all hot Californian dream girl of the 1970s. With flicked, wavy hair, Kate resembles the Studio 54 era blondes Lauren Hutton and Farrah Fawcett. The Halston style halter neck dress only improves the image further.
I personally love Kate’s retro style tribute. Real glamour never fades, and Kate and the ladies featured in this blog are real proof of that.
