My Favourite Outdoor Structures For A Stunning Garden
Have you ever dreamt of having a show-stopping pergola in your garden? Maybe you wish you could make your outdoor space more special by adding a gazebo or a garden arbour? Perhaps you want to transform your garden space but have no idea how to do it. I’m here to help!
I’ve been thinking about outdoor structures for my own garden non-stop. To the point where I’ve started dreaming about them. Has that ever happen to you? When you want something so much, it just inundates your thoughts, whether you are awake or not. It feels silly to say this but it has been happening – fortunately or unfortunately, I’m not sure.
I’ve always wanted to add a beautiful outdoor structure in my garden/patio area for added privacy and style… I mean, how could you say no to a stunning structure that makes any space feel more luxurious and functional? Today, with the help of Designer Shade Solutions, louvred roof pergola specialists, I’m going to share some of the best traditional and modern outdoor structures to transform any garden space.
Traditional outdoor structures
Gazebos.
You might have seen gazebos near ponds, in the middle of gardens and many other public outdoor spaces. These outdoor structures usually have a round or octagonal shape, and were traditionally used as bandstands. As Sparkles and Stretchmarks explains, “The main difference between gazebos and pergolas is that the first structure features a closed roof, which traditional pergolas do not have.”
Pergolas.
As this article on Clear Lifestyles comments, “Traditional pergolas are usually wooden latticed-style roof pergolas that offer shade and define spaces, such as entertainment and dining outdoor areas.” Their lattice roof means that traditional pergolas are not weather resistant and would not be ideal for rainy areas. This is where modern pergolas come in. However, I’ll explain the beauty of modern pergolas in a little bit.
Garden Arbours.
The first image that comes to mind when I think of a garden arbour is of a white garden arch framing the entry of a garden. However, “An arbor can take on many roles in a landscape, such as defining an entry or passageway, adding support for climbing plants, framing a garden feature and creating a shady spot to relax. Arbors often play several of these roles at once.” explains this article on Houzz.
Modern outdoor structures
Retractable roofs.
The team at Designer Shade Solutions create bespoke outdoor shading structures as modern alternatives to the traditional structures I’ve mentioned. Their outdoor structures feature retractable and tilting roofs plus, are fully customisable to meet any style and design requirements that you might have. Their most popular outdoor structures are the modern pergolas. As Midwife and Life mentions, “These are bespoke weatherproof roof pergolas which feature a retractable and tilting roof that can easily open or close, depending on the weather conditions. Plus, when combined with side screens, lighting and heating, you will create an outdoor/indoor retreat in the middle of your garden that you can enjoy all-year-round.”
