Reviewed – A special Dress from AX Paris
A special evening requires a special dress, and the premiere of a brand new ballet is most definitely a special event. I was a guest at the premiere of Aladdin by the Birmingham Royal Ballet on Friday evening, and was very lucky to be wearing a beautiful dress provided by AX Paris, from their fabulous ‘curve’ range.
As a mother of a young child, opportunities for really dressing up are few and far between, so if I was going to the ballet, I was going to be wearing an evening dress! And here it is, the Jewel chiffon Jewel maxi dress in raspberry by Sienna Couture.
Now, I have to be honest about this gown, this was truly me outside of my comfort zone. Originally I wanted this dress in black or navy, sophisticated colours for formal evening wear. But I’ve recently lost weight, and the black version literally fell off me – not the best of looks as you can imagine, so I had to size down, two sizes in fact, in order to ensure the dress fitted well. This dress is generously sized, and as the back is elasticated, it offers a great, comfortable fit. And so, because I loved the design, and the other colours were out of stock, I took the plunge and opted for the raspberry.
I was so glad I opted for this colour option, as it was very flattering against my skin tone and hair colour. The dress itself is beautiful, the chiffon is just so elegant and the beading on the bust gives the dress a beautiful, evening feel. I also think the dress is very versatile, it would be perfect for a summer wedding, or could even be worn as a bridesmaid dress.
It was rather a cool evening, so I teamed my dress with a silk tuxedo style jacket from the Coleen range at Littlewoods, and a bargain silver clutch bag picked up from Select for just £4. I felt super glam, if only for an evening! The dress is now available in the sale, making it a real bargain buy.
