Duchess Kate rocks a wrap dress
The Duchess of Cambridge made a welcome return yesterday, as the latest personal criticism, this time from Hilary Mantel and Vivienne Westwood continued to make news. Booker prize winner Mantel made a scathing attack on the Duchess, who she basically described as dead behind the eyes, whilst Vivienne Westwood contradicted the rest of the fashion press by saying that Kate did not recycle her wardrobe enough. Poor Kate remained silent in the face of both attacks, and somehow seemed all the classier for this.
Kate looked tanned and healthy for the engagement, a visit to Hope House, in London. She was wearing an ultra flattering wrap dress from Max Mara which showed off her growing baby bump. This was teamed with Episode shoes. Kate’s dress was from 2011, but there are some fantastic Max Mara designs available on the House of Fraser site at present that would also be perfect for the Duchess, many of them currently in the sale.

I think Kate chose really wisely in opting for the classic wrap style dress. This style, designed by the legendary Diane Von Furstenberg in the early 1970s, is a very comfortable maternity style, and one which you can continue to wear as the ‘bump’ grows, tying the sashes comfortably above the bump and utlising the stretchy fabric to accommodate an ever growing baby. Of course, wrap dresses are also perfect for those who have curves, with the deep v neckline perfect for showing off a great bustline.
