Childcare has been a major source of worry for many parents in 2020. As people returned to work after the lockdown, and with furlough schemes ending, the question has been what childcare is available, and more specifically, who will look after our children when we are working, during school holidays, and also during unsociable hours if we happen to work evenings etc. This has become even more of an issue as schools, which often run summer camps, have not done this. (My son’s school being a case in point.)
This is what has made Childcare.co.uk so important to many parents. The platform, which has more than 2 million users nationwide and is the largest online community for parents in the UK, allows parents to search for and connect with babysitters, childminders, nannies, nurseries, private tutors and schools and also allows childcare providers to advertise their services. Since it’s launch in 2009 it has proved an invaluable resource to many parents, and, now, in 2020 it is really showing its true worth, particularly as grandparents have stopped being a childcare option for many parents.
How does it work?
One of the best things about the Childcare UK platform is just how simple it is to use. You select what you are looking for – i.e. a childminder, and then add your postcode. You are then presented with a list of providers in your area (for me this was 96 that were within 5 miles of my postcode.) You can then do one of two things, you can further filter your results (looking at the specific time you need the care for, do you want a smoker or non smoker or not worried, whether you specifically want a man or a woman), or you can look at information on safety documents and how to check these.
You can then read the detailed bios of childminders in your area, can look at specific Ofsted registered minders, and can even read Covid information to allay any fears you might have. Profiles give cost per hour, star ratings, and the opportunity to contact people for more information. A look at the more detailed bios give information about things like school drop offs and weekend availability.
Useful And Convenient
Childcare UK is just a brilliant platform that ultimately takes all the legwork out of sourcing really good childcare that works for your needs and matches those of your children. Trawling through the internet or local newspaper and classified ads can be time consuming and ultimately disappointing, but this site is quick and efficient and can sort your needs quickly, especially important if you have been let down and need to source childcare quickly.
