George at Asda – The Autumn Checklist

Asda have just launched their latest drop, ‘The Autumn Checklist’, and it is full of wearable, reasonably priced pieces that can get you can start wearing now, and then enjoy all through the colder months of the year.

I know I often say that a collection has something for everyone, but I really do think this one covers all bases. It has a lovely range of knitwear that is perfect for every day style – the school run, doing a bit of shopping, watching the kids play football at the weekend. There are some gorgeous chunky jumpers and ponchos which allow you the smart, casual look, and to be warm enough without needing to (yet) resort to a winter coat.

The textured pencil skirt, a good range of blouses and shirts, and pretty tops in floral prints are great if you need to smarten up for work. I really love the bubble hem blouse, which I think would also be great with jeans and heels for a night in the pub.

Finally we have some really great dresses that are definitely elegant enough for any evening occasion, and with those defiant shades of red, we are now most definitely looking towards the festive season, and a little bit of dressing up.

I’ve picked some of my favourite pieces, but would encourage you to spend a little time on the website, there are just so many great, inexpensive additions for you wardrobe, and you can currently get 25% off women’s coats and boots, so now is a great time to spend.

White Stuff have skirts all sewn up this season.

I was recently given the opportunity to review my first White Stuff skirt. Being a huge fan of their fun and flirty dresses I was really interested to see if they could convert this avid dress wearer to the joys of wearing skirts. I do have skirts in my wardrobe, but tend to pass them over as I carry my weight on my stomach and often think waistbands draw attention to this. However, I had totally fallen in love with Helsinki midi skirt from the Apothecary’s daughter collection, so I was happy to give it a go.

An elegant pencil shape, this is a stretchy design with a thick waistband that means it looks good if you tuck a simple white t-shirt into it. The thick, wool style design makes this gorgeous when teamed with boots, and I loved the fact that this was charcoal and white, a great alternative to the ever classic black and white. The polka dots make it a fun option, whilst still smart enough for more formal occasions.

If I’m being honest, when I wore this skirt, it was still quite a warm day, certainly for early October. Because of this I teamed it with a thin baby pink knit from Laura Ashley, and some heeled lace ups from Peacocks. It was comfortable to wear and I think it is definitely smart enough for daytime work attire, but I must admit to being more excited about teaming it with a thicker, fluffier jumper and knee high boots once the weather becomes colder.

This skirt has proved popular for White Stuff and is currently out of stock, but fear not. White Stuff has an amazing range of skirts in its current collection, ranging from minis to midis, and with lots of great winter fabrics represented, including a very Christmassy velvet skirt that is well worth a look.

Have a look at what Ellos have to offer.

As a long-time fan of La Redoute, I must admit to being a little bit ignorant when details of Ellos dropped into the inbox. I didn’t know that La Redoute had a sister, so I was really eager to take a look at what sort of things were on offer. What I found is a company that is Sweden’s number one mail-order brand with a very similar ethos to La Redoute in terms of quality and price -i.e the first is kept high even though the second is low. Browsing through the brand I made  a mental wish list of a whole host of items, including trend led pieces and showstopping dresses.

So take a look around Ellos, you will be presently surprised.

Ellos dress £28

This cute checked dress reminds me of the shift dresses that Victoria Beckham designs in her Victoria collection. It also comes in hot red, which has a definite Ms Beckham feel.

Ellos dress £69

This pretty dress is the colour of mulled wine and could be your perfect New Years Eve gown. I can imagine this with a Magenta 8 bolero for a luxurious look.

Ellos blouse £29

Pippa Middleton has led the resurgence of love for the humble lumberjack shirt.  This version from Ellos is both practical and feminine with the frilled neckline.

Animal print top £19

etail, this top makes me come over all Carrie Bradshaw!

Ellos blouse £14

This tie neck blouse reminds me of the styles the Duchess of Cambridge wore during the Royal Tour of Canada. The tie ribbon is detachable, so you get two looks for the price of one!

Ellos cardigan £21

This is the absolutely perfect grandad style cardigan..and just check out those retro buttons.

Ellos handbag £49

This Navaho style handbag is really roomy, with three large zip compartments, enough room for even the most cluttered bag lady!

Ellos lace shawl £19

This beautiful lace shawl has a touch of Alexander McQueen gothic about it, but at a fraction of the cost.

There are plenty of beautiful items to savour at Ellos, so pop along and have a look.
