White Stuff have skirts all sewn up this season.
I was recently given the opportunity to review my first White Stuff skirt. Being a huge fan of their fun and flirty dresses I was really interested to see if they could convert this avid dress wearer to the joys of wearing skirts. I do have skirts in my wardrobe, but tend to pass them over as I carry my weight on my stomach and often think waistbands draw attention to this. However, I had totally fallen in love with Helsinki midi skirt from the Apothecary’s daughter collection, so I was happy to give it a go.
The Helsinki midi skirt is basically the perfect Winter skirt. An elegant pencil shape, this is a stretchy design with a thick waistband that means it looks good if you tuck a simple white t-shirt into it. The thick, wool style design makes this gorgeous when teamed with boots, and I loved the fact that this was charcoal and white, a great alternative to the ever classic black and white. The polka dots make it a fun option, whilst still smart enough for more formal occasions.
If I’m being honest, when I wore this skirt, it was still quite a warm day, certainly for early October. Because of this I teamed it with a thin baby pink knit from Laura Ashley, and some heeled lace ups from Peacocks. It was comfortable to wear and I think it is definitely smart enough for daytime work attire, but I must admit to being more excited about teaming it with a thicker, fluffier jumper and knee high boots once the weather becomes colder.
This skirt has proved popular for White Stuff and is currently out of stock, but fear not. White Stuff has an amazing range of skirts in its current collection, ranging from minis to midis, and with lots of great winter fabrics represented, including a very Christmassy velvet skirt that is well worth a look.
