Spring Clean And Revamp Your Bedroom

Spring is a time that is synonymous with Spring cleaning and revamping, especially when it comes to your home. Fresher, warmer days make you want to blow away the dark cobwebs of Winter, and getting rid of your clutter and adding some fresh, bright colours to your home is a good way of doing this. Today I am going to look at just one room of your home, in this case the master bedroom, and how you can revamp this without spending too much money doing so.

The Bed

The bed is at the heart of the room, but this can make it a very big and expensive item to change, so we need to look instead at how we dress it. A new duvet and hotel quality pillows can make it seem like you have a whole new bed, whilst an attractive duvet set in a bright pattern or print can change the look of your whole room.

Groupon is a great place to look for bedroom additions, it currently has a brilliant range of duvet sets, mattress toppers, pillows and sheets that will make your bed look so good, you will find it hard to get out of it in the morning.

Your Dressing Table

Your dressing table can be the real beautiful focal point of your room, it can also be a cluttered mess. You need to be careful that it doesn’t become a dumping ground for jewellery, cosmetics and anything else that should really be stored somewhere neatly. So make it beautiful – look for vintage vanity pieces in charity and junk shops, use beautiful and unusual perfume bottles for decoration, and make sure that jewellery can be stored in a gorgeous glass jewellery box. You will then have a space which looks amazing – and you will be able to see in the mirror too!

Add Some Images

Bare walls are all very well and minimal, but adding some images – whether they be family photos or some sort of print, will certainly improve the cosiness factor. One way to add images very cheaply is to use postcards. You may already have some of these in your home – kitsch holiday ones, cute animals, landmarks you have seen. These can then be added to frames which can be picked up very cheaply from Poundland and can be used to create a collage style effect. I have done this in my bedroom with old theatre and film postcards, and these look unique and interesting.

Get a rug

Can’t afford to chane your carpet? A bit bored with your laminate floor? A rug is a great way to revamp your floor and add another level of cosy to your room. The best sort of rug for the bedroom is something ultra fluffy, and the best place to put it is at the precise spot where your feet will leave the bed on those cold mornings.

How would you revamp your room this Spring? Do you have any makeovers planned for your home?

The ‘Year I Make It Happen’

Every year on January 1st, people set themselves resolutions for things that they would like to achieve in the coming year. Most of these resolutions only last a couple of weeks before they are broken, or forgotten, and most of these goals are never realised. This has always been the case for me, but this year I have decided to share my goals in the hope that I will actually stick to them, that this will be the ‘Year I make it happen’.

Lloyds Bank has created a special Facebook  ‘Make it Happen’ App designed to help people achieve their goals this year, and I have both liked the page and identified my goal for the year using this. The App identifies goal ideas in three main areas, home, life and money, and then allows you to choose a specific goal from one of, or all of, the areas. There are goals like ‘this is the year I redesign the bathroom'(home), ‘this is the year I start my own business'(life) and ‘this is the year I save for a rainy day'(money). Once you have identified your goal via the App, you are given lots of advice and ideas to help you achieve this.

The goal I have chosen is ‘this is the year to do up the house’. Now, this is quite a broad goal, and in general many of the rooms in my house just need the addition of a few accessories to give them a little bit of a lift. I’ve already made a start with this, ordering new wall and ceiling lights for the living room, and I’m now on the lookout for an Art Deco style mirror and large picture frames for Joe’s school pictures. In addition, I’m searching for the perfect, half-moon shaped rug in a deep shade of red. My living room is currently black and cream and so is in definite need of a pop of colour. I’ve been compiling inspiration on my ‘For the home’ Pinterest board, which you can find here. Lloyds have also provided Pinterest links to fantastic home decor ideas.

The room that I really want to concentrate on though, is my bedroom. A bedroom should be a boudoir, a little sanctuary within the home. But lack of storage, tired paintwork and a pretty threadbare carpet means that this room is truly in need of some tender loving care.  The furniture is fine, so this leaves plenty of opportunity to focus on decor and general pretty things that stamp your personality on a room.

Duvet review from Duvet and Pillow Warehouse

We spend an awful amount of time in bed. So it makes sense that we should have the best possible warmth and comfort during our slumbering hours. One of the fantastic duvets from Duvet and Pillow Warehouse offers a luxury sleeping experience, whether it be a hot sticky summer night, or the coldest nights of the bleak midwinter.

The Duvet and Pillow Warehouse is a one stop destination for anything textile related for the bath and bedroom. Offering a full range of high quality products that you can find on the high street, but at a greatly reduced price, the DAPW is one site you need to bookmark, especially if you are redecorating a bedroom, or maybe just moving into your first home. I recently had the chance to try one of their best selling products and was super impressed with the fast delivery, and with the product itself.

New White Goose Down Duvet King Size – All Season £155.25 click to visit DAPW

The white goose down duvet is what you might call a hero product for your bed. It is quite possibly the softest duvet you will ever find, making you feel relaxed, warm and oh so comfortable.  I have always opted for duck down duvets in the past, but goose is a whole new experience, feeling very light, and so cool for summer, but also perfectly cosy for chillier times.

The all season duvet is a clever concept. It is actually two duvets in one,  a 4.5 TOG and 9 TOG duvet, with the idea that they can be attached and snapped together to create a 13.5TOG.Both the duvets come in separate bags for super easy storage, and can be put together very quickly. They are also naturally breathable duvets and have been certified by Zeromite (the dust mite experts). In short, you have a duvet that is perfect for all seasons, easy to store if not in use and almost guaranteed to give you the perfect nights sleep. The New White Goose Down duvets are guaranteed for 15 years, which is also a fantastic incentive to make this your bed covering of choice.

I love my new duvet so much I’m finding it hard to get out of bed in the morning (no change there really). With free delivery on all orders over £30, I would recommend the Duvet and Pillow Warehouse to anyone who values a good night sleep.
