A day of relaxation at the Amala Spa
The Amala Spa is an oasis of calm in the middle of the busy city of Birmingham. Situated at the Birmingham Hyatt Regency Hotel, the day spa offers six, state of the art treatment rooms, as well as a fitness centre, swimming pool and steam rooms. Last week I was given some respite from the hustle and bustle of the school holidays when I experienced some of the treatments that the spa has to offer. I can honestly say I left the Amala Spa feeling totally renewed and invigorated. The Spa itself is beautiful, on walking down the steps and entering, you feel like you are in another world –…

A night of Beauty with Elemis and Debenhams
A special night of beauty demonstrations and the opportunity to try lots of products is not something to turn down, especially if it is being hosted by one of your favourite brands. This is what I experienced last Thursday when Debenhams Bullring organised a night of skincare fun with Elemis. I must admit that I was already a huge fan of Elemis before the event, I love their Pro Collagen Marine Cream, the Cleansing balm, and all their bath products, particularly the Milk Bath. But learning how to use the products as part of a complete weekly routine was a brilliant opportunity, and getting chance to try new products at…

The AEGON Classic Ladies Day at the Edgbaston Priory
Yesterday was pretty much my perfect day. It was glorious in the sunshine, filled with delicious food and Pimms by the jug. I spent it with wonderful friends and we watched some really impressive tennis in the sun. And I got to wear a gorgeous dress from Jacques Vert that had been specially gifted for the occasion. Yes, it was the AEGON Classic ladies day, held at the Edgbaston Priory in Birmingham, and it was all just fab! Ladies Day is always a pretty special occasion, a time to dress up, dig out the fascinator, and basically have a day of being glamorous – a real break from the norm.…

Reviewed – Catch 22 at the Birmingham Rep
First I have to make a confession. I have never read the Joseph Heller classic Catch 22. Nor have I seen the 1970 film version starring Art Garfunkel and Alan Arkin. But I know all too well what a Catch 22 situation is – one where you just can’t win, where you’re damned if you do, and damned if you don’t, and this awesome piece of theatre, currently playing at the Birmingham Rep, perfectly illustrates this most frustrating of situations with style, humour and pathos. The truly wonderful Philip Ardetti is Yossarian, a war weary bombardier in World War 2. He dreams of going home, but fears it will never…

Afternoon tea at The Laurent Perrier Champagne Lounge
Friday was a bit of a special day in my calendar, as I took my lovely mom to experience the new afternoon High Tea at the Laurent Perrier Champagne Bar at Marco Pierre White’s 25th floor restaurant in The Cube, Birmingham. As a lover of high tea (especially scones and cream) this had been the perfect invitation for me, and I was delighted to be given a chance to savor the flavours. We arrived a little early, so decided to make the most of the lovely sunshine and hot weather by enjoying a drink on the terrace. MPW has what is agreed are the best panoramic views of Birmingham, you…
