A preview of the House of Fraser #HHHO Grotto in Birmingham
Saturday 28th November will see this year’s launch of the most beautiful grotto in Birmingham. The House of Fraser grotto is truly beautiful, a veritable Winter wonderland that mixes the joy of reindeer’s, snow and Santa with a look back to the traditional shops and houses of the Dicken’s ‘A Christmas Carol’ era. The Grotto, once again, raises much needed funds for the Harry Moseley Charity, Help Harry Help Others, and is sure to delight children and parents with its sheer festiveness. I was lucky enough to be invited to go along to the launch, and took my sister Jodie, Joe and my niece Renee along with me. A Christmas…

Mailbox Sessions at the Everyman Cinema
The Birmingham Mailbox was relaunched in some style last month with Mailbox Sessions. Taking place over a weekend, the Mailbox Sessions were special, free events dedicated to showcasing the best of the Mailbox in terms of fashion and beauty, food and entertainment. Many of the sessions were presented by the lovely Lucy Kite from ITV, and all were well attended. I was invited to quite a few of the sessions, but the one which totally had me jumping up and down was a Breakfast at Tiffany’s special at the Everyman Cinema. The session was all about having breakfast at a screening of Breakfast at Tiffany’s, complete with Bucks Fizz and…

A Fashion challenge with Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice
Anyone who knows me well knows that I have a great love of charity shops and finding a bargain. As a lover of designer, High Street and vintage clothing, I have been able to find some really great pieces from Charity shops all across the Midlands. So I was really honoured when I was asked to take part in the very first blogger Charity shop challenge at the Bournville branch of the Birmingham St Mary’s hospice shop. The Birmingham St Mary’s hospice is an independent adult hospice providing care to people across Birmingham and Sandwell. It cares for around 1,200 people a year, many who receive care in their own…

Reviewed – Handmade Burger Co. at Grand Central Birmingham
The arrival of Grand Central Birmingham has meant the opening of lots of new eateries, selling a wide variety of different cuisines. On Sunday I was invited to check out on of those restaurants, the Handmade Burger Co, which offers one of the biggest selections of burgers I have ever seen. So, after Joe had made his football debut for Wyrley Rangers, and we were all suitably starving after a morning on the footie touchline, we made our way to my new favourite shopping centre to try out the handmade Burgers of the Handmade Burger Co. The restaurant is another that has that slightly industrial feel to it, with a…

Parklives – Use that local park!
Is there anywhere more wonderful than a local park? Free to use and enjoy, parks offer us a place to walk, whether we have a dog who needs exercise, or if we just want to enjoy the fresh air. They are a place to kick a football, throw a frisbee or have a picnic. In Autumn you can enjoy the beauty of the falling leaves, in snowy Winter you can build a snowman or have a good old snowball fight. As I said at the start of this post, is there anywhere more wonderful than a local park? So you might be surprised to hear that new research, conducted as…
