My Favourite Holiday Moment

When our thoughts turn to Spring, a lot of people also turn their thoughts to their Summer holiday. Whether you are planning a long haul trip, something with a short flight, or even a UK break, a holiday is a time to create wonderful new memories, and our choice of destination can often be influenced by previous, fabulous holidays. I have yet to book for this year, but have been browsing and have often found a cheaper deal here. One of the places we have been considering is Cyprus, where we not only spent our holiday over the last couple of years, but also watched my little brother get married.

Cyprus is a place that is full of wonderful holiday moments for my family. For a start, it was the first time my whole family had been together for a holiday since I got married in Rhodes in 2005, and this time there was the added joy of having my son and niece here too. Every element of the trip was fun, from drinking Prosseco on the plane and browsing around the duty free, to the leisurely days spent by the pool, or the long meals that seemed to go on forever.

Cyprus was experiencing a heat wave, but floating around the lazy river at our hotel, that didn’t really seem a problem, and with lots of mocktails during the day, and cocktails when the night had fallen, it really did feel like paradise. We stayed in Coral Beach, but loved to travel to the Paphos area for the bars along the harbour, and the air conditioned shopping centres, where, lucky for us, every shop seemed to be having a sale.

And then, of course, there was a wedding to attend. On a beautiful jetty stretching out to the sea, with crystal clear waters reflecting the perfect blue of the sky, my brother married his beloved surrounded by family and friends. It was a beautiful, romantic occasion, complete with poems, doves, lots of Champagne, lots of swing music, a just all round lovely occasion. It brought back lots of memories of my own wedding, and was just perfect, in a wonderful setting with an idyllic atmosphere.

Snorkelling Plans For Cyprus

You know when a special event is getting closer  and closer and you are quite literally counting down the days? Well that is exactly how I am feeling at the moment. In just over a week’s time I will be traveling to Cyprus with the hubby and the boy for a much needed holiday in Paphos – a place we have visited before and have just loved. The next week will be a bit of a rush to get everything organised and ready, but next Sunday I will finally be able to relax.

Paphos has a glorious climate and some glorious beaches and coves, so this year we are hoping to try our hand at a touch of snorkelling, and have a couple of fabulous snorkelling kits from Simply Scuba, the UK’s number one dive shop. This year Simply Scuba are on a mission to encourag more people to take up snorkelling, when they go away on their holidays. They have put together a great range of snorkelling kits that are compact and are easy to pack into a suitcase so that they can be used on a trip down at the beach. The range is for both adults and children, so even if you have never tried snorkelling before, you can now have a go as a family, creating some fabulous holiday experiences that you will never forget, and will maybe the start of a whole new obsession with the deep blue.

Faros Beach

I am very excited that Joe will get the chance to try snorkelling. Since he has been a baby he has loved being in the water, the term ‘water baby’ was definitely made for him. In recent years we have used a snorkel mask at the beach and also in the pool, so this is the next logical step, and he is super excited to try snorkeling, particularly as our hotel is close to Faros Beach. Faros Beach is just beautiful, with golden sands, perfect for swimming and for testing out our snorkelling equipment. As the quality of sea water around Cyprus is said to be some of the best around Europe, this is sure to be a fun and memorable experience. There is also a diving platform at Paphos Municipal Baths beach, although the water here is very deep, so this may not be suitable for Joe, but definitely worth a look non-the-less.

Municipal Beach

We really can’t wait for our Paphos adventures to begin.

July Outfit Post

July was my favourite month of the year so far. This was because I spent half of the month in wonderful Cyprus, and, more importantly, I got to see my little brother get married. It was a month of sunshine and fun, and, to top it all off, there was a sleepover at Warwick Castle and a theatre night too. A busy month that was full of fun.

My outfits this month all suggest sunny days and a warm climate, which makes perfect sense as Cyprus was going through a bit of a heatwave at the time (40 degrees plus most days – basically melting weather). There are new buys from Spanish favourites Mango and Zara as these are always brands I stock up on when I’m abroad, along with new pieces that I picked up before I went away that may well now be in the Summer sales that seem to be everywhere, in the most jumble sale fashion. Where I can link to an item or something similar I have done just in case you want to check it out for yourself, although looking out the window this morning, it seems like British Summer time came and went a few weeks ago, and the rain is now set in.

What did you do in July? Have you had your summer holiday yet?
