John Greed Origami Flamingo

One of the biggest fashion print trends of 2015 has been the flamingo print. These elegant, graceful creatures have adorned dresses, scarves, bags and tops including styles worn by celebrities such as Alexa Chung, Charlotte Crosby, Sam Faiers and Rita Ora, amongst others.

I love flamingo prints and couldn’t resist snapping up a cute flamingo print dress for a rather bargainous £7 this summer. And now I have added another pretty flamingo to my growing collection in the lovely form of the white gold plated silver origami silver flamingo necklace from the John Greed Origami collection.

New Flamingo necklace

New Flamingo necklace

John Greed is well known for stocking brands like Pandora, Thomas Sabo and Links of London, but it is less well known that they also stock a whole range of beautifully crafted pieces from its own range. The Origami collection is just one of those ranges. A collection of necklaces and earrings that have been influenced by the Japanese art of paper folding, the Origami collection has cats, dogs, horses, elephants, even a unicorn as part of the range (I was sorely tempted by the unicorn!). But, ultimately, when I was asked to chose a piece to review, it could only be the flamingo for me.

A delicate box chain with a clasp fastening and a5cm extender, is the basis for the necklace with the stunning 1.2cm x 2.1cm pendant as the centrepiece. The flamingo sparkles and shines due to the delicacy of the cut, with small engravings adding detail to the flamingo. This is a very elegant piece, but not ostentatious, you could easily wear this as an everyday necklace, and it would also be a lovely piece for a teenager who is just starting to appreciate pretty jewellery.

John Greed jewellery comes beautifully gift boxed in statement black boxes, making these pieces great if you are starting to think about Christmas. They are also really affordable, with the range costing between £14.05 and £19.95.

Reviewed – Pandora from John Greed

One of the biggest names in jewellery today is Pandora. The creators of beautiful bracelets and charms has recently been unveiled as the official sponsor for the Girls Aloud 10 year anniversary tour, with each girl designing a very special bracelet to commemorate this special event. So, when I was approached by John Greed, the leading UK stockist of official Pandora jewellery, with a view to reviewing a Pandora bracelet and charms, I was, of course, very interested.

I consider myself to be a jewellery aficionado, particularly when it comes to bracelets, but am quite embarrassed to say that I didn’t own a Pandora bracelet.  I was interested to see how Pandora would compare to other High fashion brands in jewellery.

Pandora Single Woven Black Leather and Silver Starter Bracelet

The Pandora starter bracelet is a great place to begin your Pandora collection. The single woven leather strand is very understated, making it perfect for wearing in the daytime with casual wear, or with a little black dress for an evening occasion. The black bracelet is also a perfect blank canvas in which to showcase your beads of choice, making a striking setting for both silver, and Murano glass style beads. I also believe that this bracelet is also perfect for both sexes, coming in three different sizes to cater for a larger male wrist.

My bracelet was completed with an exquisite open-work flower charm, which is surrounded on both sides by the silver heart beats spacer charm. This looks so pretty as it is, but the great thing about Pandora bracelets is that you can continue to add more charms. Birthdays, Valentine’s Day, special anniversary, or just for a payday treat, a gift of a new charm is something to cherish, and helps make your bracelet very, very special, and personal to you.

I’m now a converted fan of the Pandora brand, the bracelets just make the perfect gifts for any occasion. I cannot go without mentioning the packaging. Even the smallest charm comes in oh so stylish packaging with the iconic Pandora symbol making this a much lusted after option. Husbands and boyfriends – Valentine’s Day is just over a month away – make a mental note in your diary now!
