February Outfit round-up

As we are now firmly ensconced in March, I thought it was about time I did a run through of some of the outfits I wore in February ( before we hit April, so to speak!). February was a lovely, busy month for me, and some of my outfits have already been featured in the form of reviews, so I have tried not to feature them again, but there were other trips to the theatre, and different events where I dug into the wardrobe to put something suitable together.

I have not really purchased much in the way of clothing since the new year, so I have definitely been shopping my closet – there are so many things that I have totally forgotten about, I would definitely recommend it before you start to splurge again. A case in point is my fave F&F dress that I wore for a theatre review, I’ve been wearing it for a couple of years and go for it again and again, the scuba material makes it fit so well. I have also been making good use of my Kurt Geiger bag that was a Christmas gift from my brother, and is now available for a sale price at House of Fraser.

What have you been wearing lately? Are you shopping your wardrobe this year – or are you shopping till you drop?

On your marks, get set…the Selfridges sale has begun

And so the sales season continues, with Selfridges the latest to announce their big summer savings. The Selfridges sale is the one that can most likely be classed as an event, they hold very few sales throughout the year, and the savings are always massive, with many items with up to 50% off.

This year the sale includes designer items from Isabel Marant, Alexander McQueen, Markus Lupfer and Vivienne Westwood Anglomania. There are also great items from The Kooples, Diesel and a great pair of shoes from KG Kurt Geiger which are a spitting image of my all time favourite pair of shoes – the Carrie Bradshaw blue wedding shoe (and don’t say you don’t remember them – they are the shoes by which all others are judged…Olivia Palermo has them too.)

The Selfridges sale has a reputation for items selling out very soon, so if you see something you love, I wouldn’t wait around making a decision – it will soon be gone. So get those button clicking fingers flexing in the same way you would use those elbows in store, and fill that online basket with some of the best bargains you will see all year.

Kurt Geiger Press Day A/W 12/3 – Pretty in Punk

Last Thursday I attended a whole raft of press previews for Autumn/Winter 2012-13. I started with one of my favourite shoe retailers – Kurt Geiger. Now, people who have known me for a long time know that I have a long-standing love affair with the Kurt Geiger range. I have boxes and boxes of the most amazing Kurt Geiger, KG and Carvela shoes that I would never part with – if Kurt Geiger ever got shown at the Design Museum a la Louboutin, they could call on me!

So I was really excited by the press day and the new collections, which was entitled ‘Pretty in Punk’. And I loved this collection! There was a cool mixture of a punkish feel, with studs and spikes, metallics and pointed toed stilettos which all harked back to the heady Jubilee ‘God Save the Queen’ year of 1977. But this collection also looked at how the punks had subverted the prettiest shades of girlie pink to turn it into a cornerstone of the punk look. Pink was everywhere, in its most babyish shades – on handbags and shoes, from stilettos and platforms to flats.

This is the most British of collections, a ‘London Calling’ for the shoeworld. From the thinnest of stilettos spiked heels that defy balance, to the quirky British Bulldog bag charms, and by way of the ultra wedges and platforms shimmering in glitter that recall the heyday of glam rock, this collection will rock your world quite literally. You will simply not know what shoes to choose.
