Pearl Lowe’s latest drop for Peacocks

With echoes of vintage Hollywood glamour, and the usual attention to flattering the figure,  Pearl Lowe’s latest drop for Peacocks, which arrived this week, is her best yet. Modelled by daughter Daisy, this collection is choked full of elegant evening dresses and beautiful party dresses that make it perfect for the festive season. There are full length dresses that have a real 1930s feel, and then 50s silhouettes in red lace and black velvet. I absolutely love all of these dresses, but particularly have my eye on the black velvet 50s gown with the crochet style back.

Pearl says of the collection;- “My Christmas collection is inspired by my favourite movies and female Hollywood legends. Christmas wouldn’t be the same without all the family watching old films together, and I’m equally mesmerised when I see their wonderful style today as I was when I watched them for the first time…”

Here is that collection in full.

Lydia Bright – TOWIE’s breakout style star

It is fair to say I have come quite late to the phenomenon that is The Only Way is Essex. But, I am now totally addicted to watching this docu-soap that entails the lives, loves and adventures of a group of Essex 20 somethings. And whilst enjoying the voyeuristic look at life around the Sugarhut, I have also become enamoured with the style and wardrobe of one Essex girl. Step forward Lydia Bright.

Now Lydia isn’t your typical TOWIE girl. Rather than the body con Herve Leger styles, Lydia is a total vintage girl at heart. Her wardrobe is full of full length maxi dresses, pretty boho styles and original vintage finds that she often gets from Fashion Bloodhound, the pre-loved vintage site. Lydia is also a huge fan of the High Street, wearing a host of dresses from Peacocks, Yumi and Reiss. She even famously wore the Reiss Shola dress that Kate Middleton wore to meet the Obamas.

Lydia has a forties siren glamour, with tumbling blonde curls and deep red lips that recall Veronica Lake at her peekaboo height. She is a real style icon in the making and is definitely worth watching.

Here are some highlights from a wardrobe worth raiding.

Peacocks A/W Press day Kate,Pippa and a whole lot of Pearl.

Thursday saw Eastcastle St, London transformed into Peacocksville as discerning fashionista’s descended on the Oui Rooms to check out the new Peacocks collections that will have us salivating come November and December. And there were so many fabulous looks to savour…as well as a few surprises.

The  new Pearl Lowe collections have moved slightly away from her beloved 1940s, and are now embracing a glamorous Hollywood 1930s vibe. Champagne silk and lace, and black oriental style florals simply evoke the time of Kay Francis and Miriam Hopkins, whilst maintaining the amazing Peacocks  price points. There were also fabulous 50s silhouette dresses that used the luxe fabrics of velour and lace, but with elements of stretch that make them perfect, yet again for curvy girls.

The Peacocks by Design and boutique ranges were also full of gems. I loved the jewel coloured, Halston style maxi dresses that will  retail at just £40, these would be amazing for Christmas parties, and need no more accessorising than the thin gold belts that are included in the price. There are also heavily beaded pieces that could be vintage, tops, 1920s style dress, and little shifts, ensuring that whatever your style is, you will find  your Christmas party showstopper. There are also a fantastic range of day dresses that are based on 1970s designs, featuring an amazing array of prints, long sheer sleeves and pleated skirts.

One of the big talking points were the dresses based on the Kate and Pippa wedding and bridesmaid dresses. The Kate  dress has already been featured as an online exclusive, where it was a complete sell out, and will now be rolled out to selected stores. It is a prom style dress, and is also available in a beautiful midnight blue version. The Pippa bias cut dress has now been transformed into a hot pink evening dress, and will  also be available in a burnished gold version. These are sure to be sell-outs when they debut later in the season. (February I think?)

The main Peacocks ranges are also looking good. Lots of 70s colours are still hot, teal and mustard still going strong, along with stripy prints. And of course,  suede platforms in a myriad of colours, to give you the complete outfit.

All these styles will be available in Peacocks stores nationwide and online in the coming weeks.
